Subscribe to Indie Biz Q&A Lost Button

I thought there was a button similar to the one on my blog but instead of just leading you to Biznik, it was an invite to join Biznik.

The idea was that someone who landed on my site would click through and join Biznik, and I would get the Biznik mojo for that referral.

Did I dream all that up or did it actually happen? If it happened where do these buttons reside? I want one (because now I have someone savy enough to install it:-)

    Dennis, try this:

    <img src="http://biznik.com/images/dingbats/biznik/biznik_small.png" height="26" alt="Biznik - Business Networking" width="86">

It's not a direct route to the invite page, but I believe it gives you props if someone follows it and then joins.

(Okay you cute geeks out there, please tell me if I've gleaned this erroneously.)

Thanks Leila, I'll let that soak and see if someone else has anything to add, then give it a try.

Hey Dennis, what you will want to do is get that image that Leila pointed you to. Then go to your profile, on the bottom left hand side click where it says to invite your friends. Then take that email link on that page and use that as the link on the Biznik image. That will lead people to your profile and it will also track them so if they join, you get the credit.

    Hope this makes sense.

Oh look Bob, we're each partially on track.

Something broke when I pasted the link above. It was supposed to include this text, enclosed in angle brackets: a href="http://biznik.com/join/dennis-dilday" at the beginning. (If I put the brackets up here, it creates a crazy link instead.)

This should take your visitors from the Biznik button to the join page that will "credit" Dennis with the invite. This might not be exactly condoned by Biznik "officials" because it doesn't take visitors to the Biznik site overall ... but it's what I have cobbed together for my own selfish motives ;-)

The "invite your friends" link opens your address book in Gmail or MSN or Yahoo ... so you can send invitations to your horde of contacts ...

I don't think you two realize how easy it is to lose someone who does speak your language: I have no idea what my next move should be. The good news is that I have someone who have help and I'll ask her to take this info and do what needs to be done.

    Thanks much for your help.

I'm sure if you started talking about bones and muscles my head would spin within moments :-)

Hey Dennis, simply put (finally) go to your profile, choose the "raise your profile" on the left hand side, copy and paste one of those three codes in your page. It gives a link to your Biznik profile and from there if they join, you get the kudos!

Hopefully that will stop all heads from spinning!

Thanks for simplifying it Dennis. Just followed your advice and got it up in a couple minutes.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
