Wow. Apparently asking about Lucas's services on a public forum is enough to get them to threaten legal action.
Lucas Environmental Stormwater Services, Inc.
I'm curious if anybody knows anything about Lucas Environmental Stormwater Services, Inc.?

What was the threat? And why?

To be honest, I don't know this woman. I've never met her, spoken to her, or interacted with her in any way. At this moment, the 5 times I've mentioned Lucas in public at all has been these three postings on biznik, posting this video on youtube, and the posting I'm about to do on my live journal.
A friend of mine worked for her briefly last year, hence me asking about the company. I was curious if they had experience working with permeable water zoning, for a hare-brained idea I have regarding portable datacenters.
Anyways, she called up my voicemail today, after reading my response here on biznik, and again threatened me with a lawsuit. In the pursuit of all things humorous, I decided I'd post it here, with the voicemail transcribed into subtexts.
Forgive the klutzy way this was done, It's my first time using imovie.
Caution: Don't consume liquids while watching this, it's pretty funny.

That is hilarious. Hopefully she doesn't have your address. I don't know if I would lose much sleep over her threat of a "big ass lawsuit", although if your tires get slashed you may have a inkling of who did it.

Michael,
i don't know what you might have posted elsewhere on the net about this company..but there's nothing i can see on this thread that might be outside the protections the US Constitution affords all its citizens in the way of free speach.
here's a link defining slander . from what i've seen so far you are miles from that, michael. i defer to danny's razor sharp legal mind on the technicalities, but it would seem the burden of proof of any such lawsuit would be pretty hefty to meet. additionally, if they were no where close in meeting it, couldn't the defendant countersue the plaintiff for filing a frivolous lawsuit? just a question..
however, danny i wonder.. does a person who leaves a voicemail have any recourse against another person for posting a private voicemail comment to the internet? or in this era of podcasting does the person leaving the voicemail already know that any electronic communication can be readily broadcasted..and in knowing that should take extra care in how they portray themselves and their company when they leave such messages?

Wow.. umm.. a little crazy/paranoid much? If I got a voicemail like that.. hmm.. I would just think the owners are a bit kookoo!
I don't know anyone who does "good business" and uses vulgar language like that. Yikes! I hope they leave you alone.

You were right about the liquids. That was really funny. I had to listen to it a couple times.
I'm not saying it's a fact but it did sound like there might have been some TUI going on or TWI, whichever the case may be.
I have really great attorneys if anyone finds my comment offensive. ;-)
Good day, Mr. Halligan.

Are you sure that was a woman's voice?

Well, under that name, their corporate registration in Washington expired end of August last year (that kind of thing happens all the time). They are not a licensed contractor although their account with the Department of Revenue is still open. Hmmm.

Danny,
I hope she does have my address, it'll give me more of an opportunity to play around with imovie.
As to where I've posted this elsewhere, check out http://mhalligan.livejournal.com/102880.html, which I posted after her threats. I'm fairly certain I have nothing to worry about.
I don't know this lady, but she is known to me (a former employee of mine worked for her briefly). This is apparently her standard behavior.
After Leila's posting here.. I wonder what county government policies are for preferred vendors iwho may be ambiguous with their state business filings.
The irony is that I still am curious to meet somebody who understands zoning regulations around building large impermeable surfaces for a datacenter idea of mine, hence the original inquiry I had posted.
Good day.

Michael….
The U Tube VM was priceless. I have had conversations and emails with Lucas that makes that VM sound like it was it was left by a nun. I only wish I had googled this company prior to working with them. “Big Ass Law Suit” now that is a classic response. Sometimes the truth is a bitter pill to swallow. It must be real dark and lonely were she is hiding. Want to hear more ??????

Interesting lesson here - google "lucas stormwater" and result 2 is the voicemail, result 4 is this forum thread. That's just some bad PR.

god, we just have to be so careful these days what we say. recently had a chance to regret something i said on the internet. good thing i have powerful friends who are kind enough to make it go away.
course, i don't think i would ever get sauced and leave a voicemail like that. wow!

Hi there Seattleā¦.
I got a disturbing email from the owner of Lucas this morning.
If you think that youtube voice mail was scary, you should read the email.
I am considering posting the whole thing but I do not want to offend anyone. Plus I would like to give Lucas the opportunity to apologize before moving forward.
I hope this type of forum will make the owner of Lucas think prior to speaking

A very funny voice mail Michael. The idea that you have to ask permission, "little boy" before asking about a company you might be working with on the Internet is priceless.
If the immature voice mail came from an officer of Lucas Environmental Stormwater Services, Inc., in my mind that would be a valid reason along with Leila's discovery that their corporate registration in Washington State has expired to not do business with them.
I hope Kerry posts the e-mail threatening legal action. I love to read fiction. It is frequently lacking on Biznik, smile.

Kerry,
Go ahead and post it. The only way to deal with bullies is to stand up to them, and knock them down from time to time.
This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
