Where do I find networking events? I would like to start attending at least one event a month but I am not sure where to look.

How do you find events to attend in your area?

And does anybody know of any events comping up in the Los Angeles area?

Thanks for the help.

Meetup.com has a variety of events, as well us upcoming.org. You can also check out chamber of commerce events - most chambers hold monthly networking meetings, and in LA the conference center (Mosconi?) has networking events once a month.

Here in Chicago I go to a lot of chamber events, each neighborhood has its own chamber of commerce. In LA look for chambers for the city, neighborhoods, and the surrounding smaller cities and suburbs.

I go to a number of independent networking groups. There's an eco-business network I go to, for instance, a young professionals group I go to and then some lunchtime lead groups that are part of i take the lead. I think chambers of commerce are one way to find out about other networking groups in your area, but you might also want to speak with people who have a similar business or people you do business with, to find out what networking groups they know about.

There are plenty of places that you can go to spend your time and money. If you are looking for a return on your investment of time and, for some networking groups, a few hundred dollars a year, it is important to first find out where your IDEAL CLIENT HANGS OUT! If you'd like some small business counseling paid for by your tax dollars (free to you), I can help you with ongoing counseling, covering especially marketing and sales strategies that work. Visit www.mtsacsbdc.com and click on request for counseling and ask for Andrew Barden. I have clients all over LA that meet with me in South Pasadena at the Starbucks on Huntington and Fremont. We need to meet in person first and then all the subsequent sessions can be done over the phone. Feel free to check out my profile here as well as linkedin.com... and my own private site at www.AndrewBarden.com
