I have a "kit" for coaches to help them write a 48-page book that describes their uniqueness. The book will set them apart from their competitors.

The kit, right now, includes: A PDF workbook An annotated Word template, describing exactly what to put in each part of the book A 90-minute webinar to walk through the whole process 2 subsequent "open call" teleconferences for follow-up questions.

I'm considering converting the whole kit into a "fixed-term coaching" product, that gets delivered as a sequence of 12 email messages over a 6-week period, with no webinar or telecons.

Questions: Which format is more appealing? Does one format seem to have higher value than the other? The price is $397. * Any pros and cons you can think of?

The pitch is at http://www.joeltrainsauthors.com/book-48/

All help gratefully received!

Warmly, Joel

    Hey there Joel;

I LOVE your idea! As a busy coach, I never seem to make the time to move forward on a few book ideas. Price point? $397 is OK....anything close to $300 works for me. I personally don't lik webinars because I never can seem to get synced up to them. So email messages are awesome. AND, a suggestion -- how about including some tips on time management (e.g., how to find time to move forward on your book) -- that's my challenge!

    Best wishes,

    Sue Z

Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback, Sue! I take what you say about syncing seriously; I've often had that issue myself.

And I do have a side focus on time management (www.joelorrcoaching.com), so your suggestion on bringing that together with the book-writing really clicked!

    Warmly, Joel

Hi Joel, Interesting idea. Help me understand something, what is the intention behind a 48 page book about ones 'uniqueness' as anything? I am not clear what the value added piece would be or how it would be used as a service to potential clients, people interested in me or my profession.

Of did I mis-understand the context of the book? I understand wanting to share about uniqueness and what sets you apart and, I wonder if that many pages is overkill?

Now what I can get excited about is a tool that one could use to outline who/what/when/how much (their uniqueness) for an online ebook - Teleseminar's work and Webinar's would be good too as long as they are interactive and alive. I like the 12 week delivery method idea.

Price point seem out of range for content matter - in my opinion. If it is a workshop then that is different.

Hope that helps and I look forward to your reply.

Make it a great day! Tammy

My clients aren't interested in reading a 48 page book about how I'm unique. They are interested in hearing about how I am going to help them solve problems, overcome obstacles and take advantage of opportunities.

If you need a 48 page book to explain your uniqueness, you probably aren't unique. This is the kind of self-centered approach that gets you bankrupt.

It's not about you, it's about the client.

Pow! Jeffrey, that is a wonderful reframe for me. Of course I know you're right. I don't know where my head was when I wrote the copy. That will change today!

And Tammy, somehow I missed your comment back in November, which gives a similar message to Jeffrey's. Thank you for the thoughtful input!
