Subscribe to Indie Biz Q&A Question about marketing luxury "products".

Any body have experience marketing in the luxury products arena? I'm a visual artist, just wrote a business plan, and am working toward identifying and designing efficient and effective methods for marketing my work. (Artwork is tagged within the luxury items arena.)

Thanks! Karen Fitzgerald www.Fitzgeraldart.com

When I sold Infiniti automobiles ('93 I think), direct mail to the right neighborhoods was the most effective way to bring in buying customers. Seems like personal connections are more relevant in order to create the right referrals and buzz in general that you're looking for. How many artists do you know who are doing what you want to be doing with your business?

Seems like your "shared leadership" style will be popular enough when you make the connections. Good luck.

This is an old post but I do not get to Biznik much so I am not sure if you will see this so will keep it brief. This is a big part of what I do- several of my clients fall into the luxury arena - check out my profile or website at www.skbsolutions.com and I would be happy to chat with you off line or via regular email if you like.

Hi, I have a skincare company which fits into the luxury market as well. I feel that there are many ways to get out there, some expensive and some not. Depending upon your budget and your desire for local or national promotion, there are many options. Nationally, I use a PR team to get the word out and that has helped tremendously. Locally, I joined a few of the womens networking and or party groups and showcase my items there. In Seattle, we have Crave Parties, a gathering of vendors and shoppers. The best way, I feel is for people to meet you and see who is producing this new luxury item they must have. Good luck.
