WordPress is your best bet. But that is personal opinion. I use Wordpress myself as it's open source and already has a ton of plugins and predesigned skins.

I agree with Scott, WordPress is a good option. A friend referred me to Yellow Pipe here in town and they set everything up for me and I chose a template that I liked from the WordPress options. They look clean and are simple to use. Blog away!

Not to sound of a series of me too's but I agree that Wordpress allows much flexibility. If you do decide to use wordpress I highly recommend getting an externally hosted account. If you go with Wordpress for hosting you are limited in some of the add-ons you can install.

If you are looking for help with this my company has a reasonable package to get you started. MSG me for more info.

In my alternate life as a blog coach, I recommended Wordpress to my clients. Easiest to use, most robust system, good WYSIWYG interface, tons of customization options.

I can recommend Wordpress for another reason: you can actually get a URL that you want to use. Some of the other authoring services that have been around awhile are totally clogged up name-wise. On Blogger I could not find a name that I wanted to use that wasn't already taken. On Wordpress, I got my 1st choice.

I think this might be one of the classic topics of inquiry in these parts :-) so for more opinions, you might also try searching Biz Talk for prior conversations about blog platforms.

    (yet another WordPress user)

Another reason for Wordpress is that I am currently building a Publisher's Network Service startup that will work with Wordpress. It will allow publishers/bloggers to get relevant content links by others in the network to increase visibility through search engines. Wordpress is the first tool we will be launching the service on with other publishing tools to follow. So definitely go with Wordpress.

And just to complete the thread; After you have your Wordpress BLog up and running, you are going to want to get some kind of Blogging client so you don't have to log into Wordpress and use their editor all the time...it gets old fast. I use Ecto on my Mac, but the Windows version seems different. Microsoft has (or had) a beta of their Blogging client Windows Live. I use that for most of my posts as it has some nice features like auto-uploading of any pictures you put in your post. w.blogger is another Windows client I'm trying out now too.

Wordpress is really the only option that makes sense. The best thing about it isn't the Wordpress system itself but the huge number of themes and plugins that exist for it. You can make a WP blog look and behave like anything you want, and you can even use it to make a static webpage with an embedded blog.

And for those who aren't aware of all of Biznik's services - we host web sites at our colocation facility for $12/month, which can include installation of a Word Press blog on your site for free.

Aren't WordPress blogs already free? Yes, but if you want to have a blog at your own domain name, such as www.biznik.com/blog - then you need to host your domain name somewhere.

Wordpress has my vote, but make sure as Lara said you install it on your own domain name - it is worth the cost.

I like customized WordPress for most of my clients; however, I currently use Blogger for my business blog and I've had no problems with it. Both can work.

The benefit to WordPress is that it's easy to install on your own domain, it's infinitely customizable, and it's free. Having a pro designer customize it for you (which I do recommend, as you get a much better-looking product) can cost some dough, but the basic set up, and any of WordPress's templates, are free.

Blogger, by the way, is also customizable if you know what you're doing and can pull a few tricks on it - but they have much nicer templates than the ones I've seen on WordPress.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
