Subscribe to Indie Biz Q&A Specialty printer recommendations?

Hello!

I am seeking a Seattle-area printer that offers high-end four color printing/bindery services for a coffee table-sized book I am in the process of laying out.

Anyone have a recommendation? I would like to stay local if possible but would happily toss that requirement if it meant having a great printing experience.

Thanks!

Killorn

    Hi Killorn,

In the last few weeks I have learned far more about printing and local printers than I ever thought I wanted to know, as I have my first two retail printed products going to press this week (sign language flashcards containing photos and text). I made a lot of calls and learned a lot about my options (high quality digital/indigo printers vs four color off-set printing, in which plates are made). In the end, I decided on Litho Craft in Lynnwood. Their prices beat everyone in the area (as well as out of state online options) and their customer service has been wonderful! Their website is http://www.lithocraft.com/lithocraft/about.htm

    Good luck!
    Nancy

ColorGraphics is the best in town, for both print quality and customer servicee. A close second is Star Printing, who is better for short-run, high-end color.

Thanks for the recommendations! From an email request to my network, I received a ton of great feedback about Litho Craft as well. I have used ColorGraphics in the past and have been very impressed (just didn't think of them for this type of project).

I will take meetings with both and let you know! Always good to have quality printers in ye olde arsenal.
