Valerie... My profile views have dropped by 30-50% since the change. Part of the price we must pay for progress, huh? ...Howard
New Members Page
I've noticed a marked decline in the number of folks viewing my profile since the new Members Page was introduced. It got me thinking that I'd like to know what changes (if any) others have noticed, and how you all like the new page. Any other feedback?

I didn't even know there was a New Members Page and I don't know why it would affect traffic to our profiles... and whether it has mine or not I don't know since I don't pay any attention to that.

I know that both Judy and I have seen a decrease and I believe that can be expected. Myself, as well as Valerie and Howard were always on the front page of the generic member page and as a result, more people chose to check us out. But that didn't mean they were looking for our service as much as curious to who the front page faces were...
I think now that we are categorized, the hits are not as high, but people that do find you via the category page are more likely looking for the specific service you are offering.
I, myself, think it's a better system in the fact that individuals who found it impossible to get the supporting ranking higher can now have more of a chance on the specific service page that they choose.
Make sense?

I think your thoughts make perfect sense, Bob. Another benefit to the new system, at least hypothetically, is that perhaps those who were partially driven by the desire to rank highest on the member's page (rather than solely by the desire to really participate authentically in this community) are less apt to make decisions based on ranking. Not that the ranking system has been removed - but it's less "immediate" than it used to be, looking at the members page.
I also agree that the hits to our pages are now of a different (and arguably higher) quality despite the decreased quantity. People generally only make it to my page now when (a) they're checking out lawyers on Biznik, (b) they're thinking of attending one of my events, (c) they're contacting me for one reason or another. I'm sure there are some who end up there through random browsing, but that number has been cut down considerably, I think.
Thanks for the great thoughts and discussion, all!

Oops, sorry, I thought you meant "New Members" page, not new "Members" page...

The other change that might have affected your numbers is the way we organize Cities, and the way Members are listed in their Cities.
I do hope that you are finding that the number of visits you are getting are of a higher quality. That is the intention!

Christian... Thank you. I understand it better now and agree that the quality of the views is better (in Seattle). But, I'm not getting many views outside of Seattle now.
Although, it does help in each person's respective local area, it hampers visibility for people who are marketing globally. About 20% of my business has came from out of the Seattle area (and I want to increase that percentage).
How do I do that using Biznik?
So far, my only solution has been to spend more time on Facebook and LinkedIN.
I realize that the answer may be that Biznik wants to capture the local social networking niche in every local community, and that is why we put so much emphasis on events.
Your opinion?
Thanks. ...Howard
