Subscribe to Business Advice Any harm in duplicating my blog content as a Biznik Article?

Thinking of putting my blog post as Articles on Biznik.

Does Biznik have a policy against?

Will Google smite me for duplicate content?

Thanks!

Most articles site (such as ezine) permit duplication to or from your blog. Further duplication is, at best frown upon, at worst, prohibited.

    Hi Jim,
You might enjoy reading the comments on this forum post concerning your question.

The woman who originally posted it reports being formally penalized by Google and later in the comments offers an explanation of her unique circumstances that may have led to the penalties.

The posting & the comments are a little dated, but the considerations are still quite valid, and they're an interesting read.  Take note of Biznik's own Andrew Lippert's comments, as well.

You know what's ironic is that, in simply searching for information on something, one can find the same article on half a dozen souces - all on the first page of Google search results.

Indeed, a while back I was looking for an article I wrote and submitted to a single trade publication years ago, and I found that at numerous ezines. Most of these were not even credited to me - I'd been plagiarized, but that's another story.

I've stumbled upon my articles, too, Jim, but I was searching for something else! (lol)
Sorry that someone plagiarized you.  It's never a good feeling.

This very thing happened in the Biznik community, as you may be aware, and it was swiftly taken care of in order to preserve the integrity of both the articles on Biznik and Biznik's very reputation (and that of the original author).

If you haven't reviewed that incident, you might find that article useful and in particular the comments section, which includes a good discussion along with some great resources from other Bizniks.

Jim, like any other content that one place on the internet, articles also become virtually impossible to keep from being accessed/used/misused. That is just the reality.

I have posted numerous articles on Ezine. Just about every single one has been 'hijacked' one way the other. Mostly they don't even bother to properly plagiaries it (if there is such a thing) – they simply take pieces of it and post it along with a bunch of other things.

It bothered me initially, now that I understand one cannot really do anything about it, I am okay with it. The good thing is that they remain in tact on Ezine and on mu blog, where I always duplicate them. Ezine has great SEO connection with Google, so it does the job.

Why not just add you blogs RSS feed to your profile? Is there a reason that you want to "duplicate" it?

Why not revise the post and make it more targeted for the biznik audience?
