Subscribe to Business networking tips and resources Internet Networking, well 'posting' at least

When I first joined Biznik I really didn't know what I was getting into. Most of us didn't but like many of you I have been pleasantly surprised at the community that has been built at the computer and in person at Biznik events.

When you first sign on to a networking site the most you can hope for is another place to put up your story; a way for someone to stumble upon you. Biznik is definitely different. First of all, to date, it is the only online community where I have generated revenue results. On other sites I've reconnected with old friends or made business relationships with 'potential.'

I thought it could be helpful to a couple of you if we put together a list of sites for you to 'post' your information to create those 'potential' relationships. Perhaps you can help us out by adding one or two I missed:

ecademy fast pitch linkedin meetup myspace friendster ryze spoke xing ziggs zoodango zoominfo

I'm not going to endorse any of these saying they will give you results, only that as a business person and having a company with a website it can be good to get your name out there. You never know how someone is going to find you.

By the way, Dan, if this doesn't qualify for networking tips feel free to get rid of it.

Thanks for the site links Jeff. I wish I could sit around all day networking and playing around on all the site forums on these sites. Right now Biznik.com is a big leap for me as far as time goes. I do agree with you on Biznik so far though. It's a great resource!

    Carry on!

Twitter isn't a business networking tool, but you can definitely use it that way. I've received a couple of leads through twitter.

I had a feeling there were a lot more, Barry. Thanks everyone.

The ONLY place I have received business from so far has been Biznik. Three new customers in the last 6 months!

Great lists! I haven't mentioned it before out of respect for Biznik, but since it seems to be the topic here to learn about other sites, here goes.

I launched a business networking website a few months ago called www.MyBizLoop.com, basically because I was already running local networking meetings and doing email dialogues in between with attendees, and needed a good platform to communicate in between the meetings.

We're based out of Ft. Lauderdale, where there's not a lot of Biznik activity yet as well.

As with anything worthwhile, it takes time to make something work...we're new and don't have a lot of activity yet, but we are somewhat different from Biznik in that we don't restrict to just indies; network marketing folks are welcome to participate. Also we have a revenue sharing program we are offering, and other features like IM, chat, etc.

So, Dan, not meaning to step on toes, I adore Biznik-it's a gorgeous site that's so feature-rich, and I admit, has given me a lot of inspiration. But again, since Jeff asked, and businesses can use all the help they can get...thought I'd chime in.

    :-)

Hope it helps some of you out there, and I'm open to feedback and suggestions.

    (Please don't shoot the messenger!)

There is also www.Ojeez.com and www.Apsense.com, but those are a bit overwhelming to me...

Wow, what a wealth of information!

I want to take the time again be the sentimental fool here and tell everyone how much I appreciate being a part of this community. You guys are always eager to share your expertise and tips. Knowing that I am not all alone in the business world helps me sleep better at night. OK, I am exaggerating... but you get the point! :) ~banu

Great post Jeff - I remember when there were no comments on here, and now - Wow! Thanks to everyone for the wealth of information. Chris - I hear you on that front - I am super busy during the work day, and at my computer - trying to jump start my Biznik action has been a small hurdle, but I've taken the leap. So many, many, many sites - so little time.

I do want to point out that you must be very careful about self promotion and, especially, being considered a spammer.

Also, more on Squidoo. It can be an excellent method of self promotion and is not considered a bad thing there. Build a bunch of pages, actively maintain them, and you can even earn a little money from their revenue sharing, and you may get some semi-targeted traffic to boot!

One that looks to have been forgotten was Stumble Upon.
