Subscribe to Coffee Break A day without news?

Can you imagine a day when there is no news? Nothing to nothing to talk about or spin into a story. This video was so wonderful given the constant barage of "news" and news channels. What do you think?

    Great video.

    Here's what I think: I WISH!

News is worse that violent video games...

Violent video games: Fake people doing "bad things."
News: Real people doing "bad things."

A lot of people have a hard time sleeping after watching the news...

Timothy Ferriss mentions a "low information" diet in his 4-Hr Workweek. Dale Carnegie wrote about it in "How to Stop Worrying." It is generally true that while it's bad to be oblivious, there's only a small percentage of news content which is relevant to your life.

News keeps us updated, but a the same time gives us bad news, reports tragedies that you do not want to even keep thinking about it. Norman Vincent Peale wrote: "do not go to sleep after watching news"

I'm loving this discussion. Someone shared with me a line from Pain Killer Marketing by Stiehl and Devries: "...I'm drowning in data but I'm dying for some information."

Now if we could just get low information and the best information at the same time! Wouldn't it be great if you could just program your preferences in and get it filtered, someone who combs through all of it and gives you just what you want and need?

That's what we're trying to do for solopreneurs trying to sort through all the marketing advice. We are very excited to be in the "information combing business."

I just came back from a 3 day camping trip with no reception for my Blackberry. When I got back and found all my newpapers piled up at home, I immediately started scanning the headlines. But, I was able to be without news for 3 days and I lived through it.

Just makes me think.... I should be camping everyday.
