Yes, for those into weddings; events; holiday gatherings; house warmings; open-house and business hospitality; parties for no reason at all.... Note: There is a huge event Oct 2nd at the Seattle Convention center http://www.banquetevent.com/event/region.asp?r=1

Absolutely. I am up for promoting myself as a celebrant.... Also: Will you have any workshops/lectures at all? I am an inspirational speaker, as well as a wedding celebrant, and I've done lots and lots of couples counselng and ceremony planning, and have a good feel for unique & creative wedding ceremonies for Indie couples and couples "out of the box".
I also include gay and lesbian couples' commitment ceremonies in there...until the dammed laws are changed!
keep me posted too!
bright blessings Elke

wow! thanks for the interest ya'll..now to come up with a cool venue and a time/date..
time to check your calenders guys! any of ya'll going out of town within say the next 4-6 weeks? how do sundays sound? i'm thinking afternoon.. care to chime in? what areas are you guys hailing from?
i propose we format along the lines of a show and tell format..we plan for an alloted time for active sharing where everyone gets to show and tell who they are and what they do..then it turns into a mixer! maybe somewhere in there we can fit in some entertainment..
you know what might be cool? we could do a couple of mini sessions in the above format spread out over a couple of months..geared at actually collaborating on a real "guinea wedding" which we collaborate on and document with goal of making a big splash at the open of wedding season '08..maybe we even all chip in on a booth(what a great way to get exposure and keep the cost down for our individual businesses! maybe as a pack we could drag down a platinum 150k wedding..dreaming katching!) for the seattle bridal show in feb and call ourselves the one stop seattle wedding shop powered by biznik..together i bet we could make a kick ass booth without any one of us over extending ourselves. whaddya think?
we could start our own google group about this or somethin'..hmmm..

Evenings and Sundays work for me... depending on the where it will be good to have advance notice as I dont actually keep wedding stuff on hand as it is made to order. this will allow me enough time to create a few samples!

Two Bizniks who might want to hear about your plans are Neil Hubbard (bagpiper) and William Wright (attorney who focuses on estate/life planning in untraditional ways).
(There's no simple way yet for me to let them know about this thread, so I'll let this thread know about them :-)

omg..what a great contribution Leila! I love the idea of having william in on it. he is so cool. and being a good scott that i am, of course bagpipes are a necessity!

Okay Justin, I just got the gyst of what you're doing...lovely idea to get it together as a biznik network...cool. The complete package. Love those bagpipes!
I find I get some business from dropping off my brochures in the lovely places in my area (Skagit Valley) where people hold weddings. I'm ministering on Orcas Island and in Skagit Valley soon because of those drop offs!
anyway, idea: would anyone be willing to travel up to a great retreat/conference/wedding spot on Camano Island? I know the manager there, and we could all meet on a Sunday afternoon, and network and ...well, party! and drop off brochures or plan an event or.... see www.fourspringshouse.com.
or we could meet in Seattle, since that seems more convenient for folks...

Elke,
i have spoken with your friend before. she was really nice. too bad i dropped the ball this season and failed to get back to her.
I love what you are suggesting. perhaps we should like carpool or something to Camano. If we are gonna do that one we better see it while the weather is still reasonable nice.
Can you get her permission? Could she give us a freebie visit?
my thought is that as we develop this wedding group we are not going to have too many events. there is just no such thing. ya know? so seattle, camano, or whatever i'm down as long as we can make a coherent effort as making it easy for folks to show up. in this case, maybe we rent a van from Flexcar and carpool and just have everyone chip in..how does that sound? no need to pollute any more than necessary.

I can't make it that night but I would love to get the notes from this event if I could. Sounds like a great event and while my company does not organize weddings, I do come across people about to take the "plunge" and would love the guide you all assemble.
THANKS

I will be away that weekend in LA hanging with her most favoritiest band in all of the world and partying like the rock star that I am. I will be returning on Saturday night so I could probably make a Sunday night note taking event. I like anchovies on my pizza.
-
Posted by Justin Baker, Seattle, Washington | Sep 24, 2007
well, i motion that we push it back to sunday evening..
anybody second that motion?
oh and liz..we'll make sure you get to keep those anchovies all to yourself.:)
