I love this and the video is hilarious! I am charling less than before. However, I am not free nor giving away my service. I just want to keep working. However, this may be served up next time anyone asks me to invest in their project-a polite way of saying they cannot pay.

One of the things I've noticed, though, is that the customer often begins negotiation only after the business owner has essentially invited it.
I can use the tax preparation field as an example. A lot of preparers ask for payment with something like "So, the price was calculated at $260. Is that OK?" They've just said two things: 1) they don't really believe in the price themselves and 2) it's open for negotiation.
Imagine how you'd react if the water at a restaurant came up and said "The chef says you should pay $60 for your meal. Is that OK?" Of course you'd negotiate!
I hear the same thing from other professionals, especially in the service business.
As professionals, we should learn to model the closing used by other industries. "Your tax return will cost $260 this year. Will that be cash, check or charge?" shows confidence in the price and doesn't open the negotiation.
