Yay, it's finally here. I just want to thank everyone who helped me during the last two weeks to get this ready for launch. I'm so excited to bring you all the cool things about dogs you've always wanted to know.

Not only are there great tips and tricks but we've also put tons of cute pictures of puppies in there for maximum work distraction.

Please please please, if there's any feedback you have about it, do let me know as I'm entirely new to this whole blogging world.

You can check it out at http://www.greenpups.com/dogblog/

I LOVE LOVE LOVE border collies and have two of my own. Okay, well they live with my parents but I still love them. I will definitely be making some border collie specific posts in the future.

OMG! What a fantastic blog!!!! I have bookmarked it and will add you to our blog roll sometime today. We have two bullies (bull terriers) that we imported from Europe..... totaly obnoxious and untrained (to a point..they rule the house!)..

I so did NOT realize that dogs need so much sleep (17 hrs per day didnt you say)....no wonder they are always sleeping!

Sara - if you've got an aussie you absolutely need to STOP feeding her from bowls and start feeding her from work-to-eat toys. You can read about them on my site and in my blog. Super important. Playing tug will also help curb her working dog energy.

Rebecca - exercise will likely solve a lot of your problems. If you're taking them on 2 mile walks every night (and really, who actually does that?) scrap the walks and play tug or fetch with them instead. Get their heart rates up for 45 minutes and you'll have lovely dogs. Oh, and feed them knuckle bones. I buy mine at www.askthemeatman.com. They last forever and your dog will forget you even exist for at least 20 minutes a day while he goes to town on one of these.

    Sterling,

The BC Rescue found a great match for us and we are picking him up tomorrow! He is the sweetest dog and he took to my daughter quite well!

Any tips for bringing home a rescue? He's pretty scruffy and dirty, and his hair is very matted, so I'd like to have him groomed before we bring him home. Is this a bad idea?

I can't wait to read more of your posts! I love this blog!

Transitioning to your house is going to be difficult anyway so I don't think the groomer will make or break that situation.

My best advice would be to give him his space and feed him some sort of tasty meat in small pieces so he likes you more. Just walk by him and toss some turkey on the floor.

It can take up to 3 months for a rescue dog to really settle in so give him some time. Some dogs adapt very quickly. Once he comes, shoot me some more detailed questions about his specific behavior and I'll give you better answers!

    Yay! Thanks, Sterling!

We have had such bad luck with rescue dogs in the past (Tulsa's shelter had an outbreak of parvo and was still letting the sick dogs be adopted out), but we've never had a BC...I feel really good about this one!

    I'll keep you updated!!

Sterling, I love your blog! I will read it all the time, as we are hopefully getting a puppy in September and it's been 11 years since I've had a puppy...

Great advice and a lot of fun to read!

Ok, Sterling, we got our man! He's a beautiful blk/wht BC! He's kind of thin, and has a broken tooth that's keeping him from eating dry food, but we're going to have it pulled when he's neutered next week. He's a lover though. I think we have a good one. He is a fence climber, though. We have a 6ft tall fence that he successfully climbed, bu my husband called to him and he came right back.

    Just thought I'd update!!
