Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion Help promoting creativity retreat for cancer survivors?

I've posted information about my creativity retreat series designed for women that have experienced cancer on the "promotions" page. If anyone has ideas about where I can send/ post flyers that SPECIFICALLY relates to cancer survivorship please email me.

I already have Cancer Lifeline, Gilda's Club, Swedish Cancer Institute, and Young Survivor's Coalition on my list.

thanks!

I have a contact who may have some insight, so I'll shoot off an email to her.

I would contact Nordstrom. They are known to be the best providers of masectomy bras in the NW.

Find out where the survivors go to get wigs/hair replacement as well. I don't have that info, as I worked with patients who were very ill or on their way to hospice.

There are dozens and dozens of plastic surgeons in Seattle who specialize in post op breast augmentation. The nurses and exec assistants would be the best at finding out how you can post your info at thier offices.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. I'd love to hear about how it goes.

    Good luck!

    Joy

Hannah, have you shared this yet with (Biznik) Elke Macartney? Breast cancer is pervasive in her focus these days.

Hannah, you may also want to talk with Karen Gorrin. You met her during the press release workshop. If I remember it correctly, she helps cancer patients. She may know some good places for your flyers as well.

Hi Hannah ... Your retreat sounds wonderful and I wish you all good things. Please send some flyers to me for my office. I would also be happy to connect you at Harmony Hill Cancer Retreat Center where I am on the faculty, so you can learn about any possibilities there. Other good places to market would include the Cancer Resource Centers located at the hospitals; and the American Cancer Society maintains several Cancer Navigators around town who help patients and survivors navigate available resources.

It might also be beneficial to know that the psychosocial support programs in the oncology community are offered free of charge by all of these organizations. I believe that makes marketing similar programs for a fee somewhat daunting. It might be that partnering with one of these organizations is the way to go?

Are you only looking to promote in the Seattle Area. I live in Encinitas, CA, a very health and holistic minded area. I'd be happy to hang up 2 flyers on local bulletin boards here. -Leah
