Thanks for the question Justin and for the information Barry
And in order to use the favicon you create on your website, you need to either place it in the root directory of the hosting account for your domain, and/or use this html tag in the <head> area of your website: <link href="http://www.yourdomain.com/favicon.ico">
Happy favicon-ing.
Barry, thanks for the info.. i used that tool. Daniel appreciate your sharing the code. i think the site Barry mentioned said the same, so i'll take your input as validation..
now i am just waiting for my admin guy to help me upload into root..then i'll get it coded in. i assume the code for the head section of a wordpress site is found in the file index.php right? is that the file i'll need to edit?
Here's a related tip, which I learned from Leif Hanson. To have a snazzy icon of your website display in iPhones:
I made one for Biznik, and it looks totally candy on iPhones!
Good tip, Dan, thanks! I'm still getting used to planning with the iPhone in mind.
Justin - you'll want to drop that line of code into your header.php file in between the <head> and </head> tags. You'll be good to go.
sweet! i'll let you guys know when it's up! just have to wait on Andrew or Jeevan to upload it to root..still haven't figured out how to ftp on my mac..got some software to do it, but i really need someone to give me some pointers on how to use it. seems like every ftp client has a slightly different interface and i still seem clueless as to how to use any of them. i do hear you can ftp from the command line in osx ..but i don't even know how to get to the command line. let alone what you do after that..
Wow... designing for iPhones has reached an all new low. LoL.
It will be amazing if we reach a point in technology where mobile design applications for phones reaches a majority of the population.
It would be nifty if that idea was more generic and worked across all mobile devices.
Barry, if Google's Android becomes ubiquitous, your desire for generic solutions for all mobile devices will be realized. We'll see what happens. Currently, Android is full of bugs and no phones supporting it. :-)
Great tip, Dan. Thanks.
