Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion I'm loving Biznik: including new stuff...

Since just about the beginning of my start in biznik, as member # 168 (?), I have found that biznik offers me so much more than just a place to network my services.

  • It is a community for me, a solopreneur of 24 years, so that I do not feel so lonely anymore.

  • The old "watercooler" or coffee break room nowadays is online in places like Facebook, et al, but biznik has more of a shared sense of community to me because it encourages bright, forward thinking entrepreneurs to find solutions to their business lives' persistent questions in the "how to" articles, biztalk topics, events...all ways to encourage discussion and insight, rather than competition and secrecy.

Which brings me to some new "stuff " we get to enjoy:

  • I love the new tagline!!! It better reflects who I am and other bizniks are than "business networking that doesn't suck." That was fun and cheeky, but we are beyond ONLY fun and cheeky, we are ALSO collaborators in a revolution in doing business. OK so that sounds rather BIG...but it's so true! Business as usual hasn't worked, so why not let the revolution, the new renaissance start right here?

  • Groups: Underutilized, but with such great potential, the groups function allows me and others to share more specifically our interests as business people, whether its location based, or activity based, or shared values, the groups function could use some more activity...check it out folks! and check in with some already dynamic groups!

  • brief lecture & reality check: All of this great stuff comes at great cost to the folks who put together biznik. I think it is a crucial service , a school and coffee-shop and networking service, and more, rolled into one fairly easy to navigate site. I strongly suggest you upgrade your level of participation. Because I have upgraded, more clients and folks have found me on my biznik profile page than even my own webpage! That is a very good thing in this day and age of gazillions of personal websites.

so participate! collaborate! get involved to your level of comfort....and , dare I say..shine!

blessings Elke

I love Biznik......sadly the water coolers time has come and gone for most of us.

I have been able to work with some great members and received some priceles advice on this site!

I'm with you on the collaboration part of the tagline, Elke. It may sound stuffy and boring to some, but it so much better describes what this site is all about. Now we may be able to come up with a catchier term, but it is precisely what separates Biznik from the others. The dioesn't suck didn't tell me the benefit, what was good about Biznik. There was nothing to picture. (Try picturing "doesn't suck.")

I'm thinking that the groups will eventually evolve into passionate groups of like-minded people who want to accomplish great things together. I don't think we're there yet, but we're getting there.

I love the "age-inclusiveness" of Biznik, where every idea presented is weighed on its own merit without any pre-conceived opinion or "pecking order." As a life-long learner, it's the perfect setting for me.

Bob and I have been supporting members and for a brief time (2 weeks?) I got the silly idea that we could save money if I dropped down one level, to active member.

BOY, was I wrong. I immediately felt the impact. The next month I had my gold star back!

The new tag line is the beginning of an interesting conversation. Serving as Chief Collaboration Officer of Ideas Evolving, We are building our business around collaboration.

We are focused on providing our ideas and experience to the members of our community. We believe this is the only way we can truly achieve our strategic objectives. http://www.ideasevolving.com/about.php

Sharing and Collaborating does not pay the bills. We are convinced that if executed correctly, there is a point in the conversation where a business transaction that will naturally occur.

We look forward to expanding our level of our collaboration in the Biznik world.

Hi Elke, as always, words of wisdom from one of my favorite Bizniks. And I agree with every point.

Especially the groups. I believe there is a lot of potential and that we each need to find out what this is for our particular group. My WordPress Chatter for example. I want it to be a sounding board for ideas and challenges. And I hope it grows into that.

Love the new tagline as well!

Elke, thanks for reminding us about the wonderful benefits we experience as members. And thanks also for encouraging members to upgrade their level of participation/membership in Biznik! I became a supporting member very early in my business, when $24/month was a bit of a stretch. It was an investment that has paid itself back a hundred-fold (probably more, but who's doing math!?!).

If you're a newer member or an oldie considering a Supporting Membership, from my experience I can share that you won't regret bumping up your membership level!

during today's solar eclipse, I will be sending prayers around the world, and will also send some to the founders and maintainers of this site: may it grow and prosper, for the good of all.

Thanks for your responses everyone...let's put our intention into making this site a force for good as we entrepreneurs express our passions boldly!

    peace, Elke

Hi Elke, thanks for sharing...I didn't even know there was going to be a solar eclipse today.

yup, Bob, this solar eclipse is a doozy... twice as long as usual.

Should be happening around 7:30 pacific time, and full viewing in the HUGE city of Shanghai, home to 12 million folks. SO good intentions will spread far and wide.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
