Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion Last Biznik who helped you

Joe started a post asking us to celebrate the most recent Bizniks we've hired, and it got me to thinking about the Bizniks who've HELPED me...usually for free and out of the greatness of their hearts.

Since a lot of us get this kind of help and get to experience the quality of each other's skills and character, I'd like to promote those people who've helped us out.

Who has greatly helped you lately?

And speaking of Joe, he's the one who most recently helped me! For the cost of lunch, he listened to me talk about what I do so he could distill it into this positioning statement for me.

What a great post, Rachel. Valerie Farris and Ron Copple took the time to write amazing testimonials as subscribers to our weekly marketing e-tips.

The other thing, of course, is the advice on forums, in workshops, etc.. It's impossible to calculate (and to name everyone individually), but that's huge.

    Really sweet post, Rachel.

And you're the last Biznik who helped me. Everyone, go check out the compliment I left on Rachel's page.

I didn't know anything about alternative healing or energy work. Whatever it was, it was outside my comfort zone and I had a really hard time tracking with her because it was so foreign to me.

Until I asked her to "do her thing" so I might understand it.

I was amazed. She came back with three meaningful insights about me that she couldn't possibly have known.

Email me for details and you'll be her next client!

Me? I can't wait to see her again.

John Sanderson helped me with some Photoshop work yesterday and I helped him pretty up his website. Stay tuned..once we work some more magic with John's site, you'll be able to read all about his new biz, which will offer THE most unique dining and catering experience in Seattle!

Also, my "soul sista" Amy Lang gave me some fab PR resources recently. Amy and I met through Biznik and I think she would agree we have be one of the biggest influences for each other in helping our businesses flourish over the last year!

Also...the oh-so-generous and charming Julian Michael provided 25 of us with great new headshots after his recent event. His event was a lot of fun and his work is very professional and produced unique shots. Seriously, there are a few Bizniks who could moonlight as models. Have you noticed all the fresh faces on the site recently? Likely Julian's handiwork. I highly recommend Julian to anyone needing biz or family portraits!

That's awesome, Nancy. I was just going to compliment you on your photo! Go Julian!

Thanks for your compliment, Joe. It was a pleasure to get to introduce you to what I do.

And I agree, Judy. Everything on Biznik is already geared to be a huge help!

  • Valerie Farris

Brandi Pierce hands out more of my business cards than I do.

Marlene Rockey has generously offered to help me make my office a little more homey and inviting!

Joe Hage helped me focus in on my niche and polishe my positioning statement, as he also did for so many others.

Melanie Machado and I got together for coffee and she ended up giving away her expertise in the area of exercise and nutrition for free.

I am probably leaving someone out - and I apologize. I am consistently impressed with the generosity of the folks on Biznik. Thanks everone!

    Here's my list:

Kaya Singer has referred people to me consistently, and her unique Business plan approach was a much needed relief for a creative.

David Billings has been great, he and I have "buddied-up" after his event Brown Bag in Laurelhurst. Like a mini-mastermind group that will soon grow I'm sure. It is truly great to have someone that "gets-it" with the collaboration/group-think process.

Jeff Fisher has just been an inspiration for a number of years. He is so kind in the fact that he shares his knowledge with up-and-coming designers, and even seasoned veterans.

Adrienne Fritze is also an inspiration, her drive and passion for what she does is contagious. I have benefited greatly from knowing her and taking her Guerilla Exhibitor courses. She is also generous with her knowledge.

Barbara Saunders has been amazing, she single-handedly has managed to keep SECP - Self Employed Creative Professionals - afloat, and I fully intend to give her all the assistance I can. Sure there have been some partners along the way, but it is she that has endured through and through for 8 years or more.

Valerie, I hear ya about Brandi, Marlene and Joe. I haven't had the pleasure yet of meeting Melanie, but now I'll look forward to when I do.

Christian, it's especially amazing to me that all the people who've helped you are a completely different list than those I've met and received help from.

Even though I've been helped by dozens of people through the couples years I've been a Biznik, there are still more generous souls to meet and work with!

Oh my goodness. There is so much beauty and kindness in the Biznik arena! I would hate to leave people out, but to be honest.. everyone in my Network in some way has greatly helped me. Whether it be writing a compelling article or grabbing coffee with me while sharing their life story and lessons learned.

BUT! I do have to point out some amazing people and some of them are in this strand already! hehe!

Valerie Farris has been not only my exceptionally talented attorney, but also has become a dear friend that I can randomly call and request a lunch date with. hehe! I love that our schedules allow us to be random some days. My life is greatly improved to have Valerie in it!

Rachel Whalley has made my mental clarity and life so much better through her kindness and compassion. She has given so much of herself to helping me and I can't thank her enough. She radiates love!

Angela Halsey is my shining star in the darkness. She and I have been developing our businesses at the same time and have learned to lean on each other when things look hopeless, hard or just plain exhausting. I couldn't imagine a more perfect match in such a critical phase in our professional lives. I also consider her one of my awesome friends.

Summer Myers was my friend before Biznik, but she's also the one who got me on Biznik in the first place, so of course I have to talk about her! Summer is my #1 and it kills that we live kind of far from each other and our schedules don't allow for too much face time, but she's the one I call when I'm excited, sad, or just inquisitive. That makes me want to call her right now! lol!

Bridget Gailey is a fantastic designer who has become a good friend. She's always there when I have design questions or a desire to grab sushi for lunch. She's the type of friend you just know will be around for the long haul. Did I mention she's an awesome graphic artist also?

Erin Pierce (no relation, though I wish!) is my go to dev for flash, blogs and general cms help. I look back fondly on the first time I met Erin & Bridget at Ama Ama hosted by Elizabeth Lee -- who's another awesome person I need to mention.. along with her sister Amanda Nokes who is also awesome and extremely witty!

Pamela Ziemann who is a great coach for finding your inner voice -- so good at what she does. She's very sweet and easy to talk to.

Kimberley Barker is an amazing person who cares about her clients' welfare, as well as providing a quality service. Her massage techniques are pure fabulous!

Amy Woidtke is fun, quirky and genuine. She's awesome to brainstorm with over coffee.

Matt Hackett is on my awesome amigos list! He's so much fun. I think if I were stranded on a deserted island, he would be the one thing I would like with me. I think we'd laugh so much, we wouldn't notice we were stranded. haha!

Kevin Henry is what's right with the City of Bellevue and I have the distinct pleasure of working with him on design projects.

Joshua Cole is a super cool developer who makes programming sound easy. woah! And he let's me drag him to sushi!

There are so many more.. but I think this post is too long and I've more than likely gone off topic as usual. Wow.. just lots of people I adore! =D

I appreciate all of you and I just couldn't imagine a more supportive, caring and empathetic group of people. This community is fantastic for support and friendship!

That's a freakin' awesome list, Brandi. It sounds like those people are blessed to know you, as well.

Anita, I love that you're shouting out people who have essentially shouted out about you. That's a lot of symbiotic love. :)

Wow Rachel, What a great list of gratitude you initiated here!

I am inspired to look into all the Bizniks mentioned above to learn of the great things they do in our community.

For me I would have to list:

Nancy Juetten who introduced me to Biznik as the 'best social networking site.' Also because she offers such spot on tips and advice for getting seen, heard and noticed with her publicity tips. If you haven't met Nancy, please introduce yourself and get her Media Savvy toolkit!! It works!

Joe Hage who has probably challenged me most on Biznik with his question and offer on Positioning Statements (Still working on mine post breakdown/breakthrough!!) I also really like his blog and website. The integration of personal and business is truly artful.

Sandra Jones who has inspired me this summer refresh and renew as I relax! I get so busy running at the speed of Whoosh that i allow the enthusiasm to take over and forget to give exquisite self care.

And last (for now) but one person who I am so impressed by their generosity and giving spirit, and mentioned above...Julian Michael I was struck to point of speechless (which is a shocker for me!) with his gift of a headshot at a recent event he hosted. While I unfortunately had to cancel my spot for the event, Julian personally called me to see how he could support me in getting to that event. I was so blessed by his giving spirit and surprised that it mattered so much to him that i be at his event. After the event when I looked at the great photos he shot, I was truly BUMMED that my schedule got in the way and I am truly excited to see where his business goes.

Thanks again for the question Rachel!

Tammy, I really appreciate the kind words.

Erin made my site and Tia spruces us my blog (ask her for the "Joe Hage special). Full disclosure: I pay them both.

I am very happy with their work and encourage you to check them out.

Julian Michael hosted the best Biznik event I have experienced. I love my new photo. Julian has helped me more than I can ever thank him. I highly recommend his services.

Derek Klein dropped in to one of my Greet Eat and Meet Events. I liked him right off. He joined Biznik that day and he has now produced an awesome new video profile for me. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!

I think he's one great videographer and I highly recommend his services.

Many more Bizniks help me every day. These are just the most recent. This is a great support community.

Awesome, Tammy. I agree--whenever someone is mentioned here, I definitely go check out who it is and learn more about them.

Glad to see you're hiring more B'niks, Joe! Your site definitely looks professional and well-put-together.

Howard, I agree that Julian is beautifying Biznik, one profile picture at a time. And I do love your new video. Looks like it should be on TV! Derek seems like a very talented guy who captured you at your amiable best.

    Rachel,

Thanks. I find that I tend to do more with those that I respect, and that have really demonstrated that they are really good at what they do. Rachel Whalley is all that and more. She even had a lunch with me to help understand my own personality traits and how to use them best for business.

    Thanks Rachel!!!!!!

This week new Biznik member Amoreena Klein created the most amazing flower arrangement for a client. I was completely blown away by how unique her work looked on her site.

Sarah Bitter is reviewing all of my insurance policies to make certain that I have the best coverage....

    and...

Ami Kiker helped me out of a jam when I needed a client's house cleaned at the last minute.
