Uptown Espresso on 4th Avenue in Belltown has a great room that is comfortable and quiet. They also provide free access. Also, a number of local libraries have private areas as well.
recommedations wanted to event locations
Hey folks,
I'm interested in hosting an event, but am not sure about where to host it and what would be required to use the kind of location I am interested in.
The kind of event that I want to put in is sort of facilitated book club/discussion group hybrid. The ideal setting is a place that had comfortable chairs (couches would be a real bonus) and space for say...less than 10 people. Not too loud.
Any ideas?

A couple off the top of my head...
We've held Biznik book club-type events at The BalMar in Ballard - owned by Biznik, Andrea Martin. On the main floor they've got an arrangement of 3 couches by the door, that I think we squeezed 9 or 10 around once for the event on The Long Tail. Upstairs they've got a nook with little stools and benches that can be rearranged and accommodate a few more.
The back room of the Spitfire where the last Supporting Members event was has nice couches.
Upstairs of The Chapel on Cap.Hill has compfy seating, as does the blue room on the main floor of the Capital Club.

O! and can I just say again how cool the new Biznik site will be - it'll have a listing of venues that people recommend that are perfect for Biznik events, complete with details, and good nights, and contact information... ;)

Ok, right. Silly me for not thinking of the Spitfire, when I was just there. For the Spitfire, do you have to schedule the space? Does it cost $$?

There are a couple of places on Pike on Capitol Hill. Kaladi Brothers Coffee has a semi-private room, and On The House gallery has free meeting space.

We don't need to rent the back room of the Spitfire if we use on a slow night (Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed) and if we have at least 15 people buying drinks.
You won't need the whole room to yourself like we did though. I bet you could just go early and stake out the couches.
