Save on gas?

I know I put water in my coolant tank once and it froze and cracked all sort of things that did not need "cracking"

I would talk to a mechanic before trying anything out of the ordinary. Personally, Im not buying it (the theory that is).

Check Mythbusters Episode 53 where they did some great tests on alternate fuels and devices which improve milage. This particular product looks like the hydrogen fuel cell generator they tested.

As for the results..."My God! It doesn't work! I can't believe it doesn't work. I found it on the Internet, man!"

Aside from the Mythbusters, the EPA tests these devices too. Bottom line is "the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has evaluated or tested more than 100 alleged gas-saving devices and has not found any product that significantly improves gas mileage."

A friend of mine sent me a link to a “run your car on water" add on the net.

After initially laughing it off, as I am an ASE master certified Technician and a department of ecology specialist. I then started to ask my self, what if?

I have no idea at this stage if it works or doesn’t and have no intent on selling online books. I am only trying to form an opinion about something after I have tried it myself.

I do sometimes grow a little tired of hype and bashing a like on things that have not been proven either way.

The problem here is that after obtaining the book on line and reading it. This is a very complicated process and I can see why many people fail at this endeavor. But that does not mean that is does not work. Even if it does, success is usually brought out from failure.

What I do know for a fact is that the future of cars is Hydrogen, and not petroleum as discussed by the EPA and Department of Ecology, at an automotive emissions specialist training class.

Here is where we are at right now. Whether or not you believe in the science of global warming or not you must realize by now that the days of cheap gas are over. Alternative technologies have always existed to oil. The first Model T was designed by Henry Ford to run on corn ethanol. The Diesel was originally designed to run on peanut oil.

Oil was the original alternative, as it was at the time, cheaper than the form of fuel the internal combustion engine was slated to burn. Now that oil is so expensive, alternative measures really do make sense now. Time to stop ranting, and start trying.

Justin is my auto mechanic, and I'd hesitate to laugh off the hydrogen system until he has finished experimenting with it.

I would have laughed it off as well, but I have great respect for Justin's knowledge, and the very fact that he even suspects that it MIGHT work carries a lot of weight with it... he doesn't have time to waste on a fool's errand.

Join the ranks of sceptics, but keep a close eye on Justin's blog as he tests this theory - it might do you good some day!!

I was talking to a supplier yesterday who made a good point - look for savings elsewhere. Lets face it, its not likely I'm going to be able to make OPEC raise production, increase the dollar's value, or discover a new fuel source.

But there is often lower hanging fruit - in his case he was talking about VoIP - but maybe you need to review your medical insurance, business insurance, driving hours (to avoid traffic), change service area, telecommute, change web hosting, etc. I'd review any monthly service and make changes accordingly.

For example this year I changed cell plans (the new unlimited plans are great for heavy users). I renegotiated my SEO service costs. I cut one analog phone line and replaced it with VoIP service.

As for phone bills, I recently cut $300/mo off a local church's phone bill. That makes up for a lot of $4 gas.
