Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion Wage Garnishment Scam?

Has anyone had the experience of receiving a phone call from someone asking to speak with the head of the payroll department regarding a wage garnishment? I received such a one this afternoon and the person gave their name but not the name of their company and would tell me nothing more until I identified myself to them. The caller claimed to be calling from out of state. I gave him no information and he hung up saying he could look up my information.

There are no judgements which would prompt such a call. I have no employees. So I'm thinking this is fraud of some sort. I can't find anything specific on the internet.

Any similar experiences out there? If so, what action did you take, if any?

I have had similar call about a business line of credit which I had supposedly applied for. I would suggest notifying you state attorney generals office or you county DA.

Any wage garnishment information will come in the form of legal documentation sent via snail mail, certified.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
