Jack,
I don't think Google dropped it. I shows up on a search for Jackzyoung. Google revises their algorythm periodically.
Hi,
After joining Biznik about two months ago, my site (www.jackzyoung.com) has been stepping up in Google placement, from page 8, to 5, to 4, and a couple of days ago, to page 3. But then it disappeared from the key word search. Boom! Puff! Gone!
I haven't done anything major to my site lately. And it is still showing on Yahoo (page 3). Why would my site index suddenly dropped by 'Big Brother Google'?
I am kind of losing my mind on it.
Thanks for any help!
Jack

Hi John,
I hope so! My site is still there but a key word search, 'seattle wedding photography', would find me on page 3 before, now probably page 30.
oh well...
best, jack
Wow, I accidently started a search here (Wedding Photographer, Seattle) and you didn't show up in the first 5 pages either - while Keith the QuickBooks guy and Andrew the Tai Chi guy did. Unless I just didn't see you.
The first 5 pages on Google weren't any better.
I've heard that a person can do things that Google doesn't like, but it is strange that apparently they made a change of some sort that meant you got dropped when earlier you were doing so well.
Jack,
It is important to keep an eye on your Google rankings and to do regular searches to see where you are listed for your preferred search terms. However, it is also important to look at these results over time.
Google does modify their algorithm almost constantly, so changes to your ranking can happen regularly without any action from you. Just looking at one week's Google ranking could make you think you did something wrong, when you actually had nothing to do with it.
You can also drive yourself crazy with it! Careful about that!
Being active on Biznik can also help your rankings. Just having a profile will get you into Google, but going to Events, read/rate/comment on Articles, participate in discussions like these... all this activity will help raise your visibility within Biznik, and within major search engines as well.
Jack: Active websites do seem to get noticed more. And Christian is right on... activity within biznik does get your site noticed by google. So if you change content on your website front page it can help. Some ways to do that are blogs, videos, and feeds from other pages rotating up to the front or home page.
Just by joining biznik I moved from page 72 to page 6. From there it is easy to get even closer to the top.

Hi Jack,
I echo pretty much what everyone else said. Google changes search parameters on a regular basis. The only other reason might be if you were aggressively self-promoting your website and services on social bookmarking sites and the like. If so they will blacklist you, which can get your website removed from search engines.

I've heard the algorhythm likes to check to see if the webpage has been updated periodically. Also, I tried Google adwords. While it may have ramped up placement, (It did generate business for me), not enough to justify the cost at the time.
Hi John, Dennis, Christian, Jim, Taylor, Ted,
Thank you all for the replies. I apologize for not getting back to you guys...I was away for a week without internet.
I searched again just a moment ago and did find myself on page 5...so big brother google let me back. I guess I am not going to worry to much about it.
Have a great 4th!
Jack
