Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion What are your favorite venues to host professional events on a budget in Seattle?

I am looking for recommendations for venues. I often do free Friday night events, followed by a nice, professional workshop on Saturday day.

I am looking for venues someplace in downtown or north Seattle or in the University District or Lynnwood that has easy access from the freeway, hopefully parking, and is affordable for a startup company. Inspirational and charming would be wonderful extras...

I am from Bellingham, doing a startup training program, and hope to have perhaps 50 or so people on a Friday night and maybe 25 to 30 people on Saturday. Where have you all done meetings that worked well?

    Hey there, Joy.

Try Talaris Conference Center near the U District/U Village part of Seattle. Beautiful 20 acres of park land and a pond, plus great food and a lovely staff. Reasonable prices, too. Parking is free on site in their big parking lot.

Good luck and feel free to tell them I referred you. :)

Thank you, Rachel, I just left a message for them. I very much appreciate the referral for I looked at the website, and it looks positively delicious. A gorgeous spot to do exactly the type of seminar I wish to do. It is a matter of timing and dates and pricing.

I am still open to other venues as well, for sometimes we need different kinds of locations in different places, to meet different needs.

I did get referred to some Uptown Expresso locations - one on Westlake Ave., and one in Belltown that I am also checking out.

And another person said that the Old Spaghetti Factory in Lynnwood had a good affordable space.

Any other feedback from the rest of you?

Stop by Espresso Buono Garden Cafe in Lynnwood.... espressobuono.com
My coffee shop space is intimate and nice for up to 12 people that can be reserved very economically for an evening. There is also a large space available to me on the others side of my side patios for occassional events. Ponds, Gardens, inspiration and good beverages and food are here for you!

We're getting more practice holding larger events in lovely spaces surrounding by ponds and gardens at my family's office park in Lynnwood...where I also have my coffee shop. You may already have held your Friday/Saturday event, but if not or if you plan to hold another, you may really want to check us out. In any case, feel free to join our Edmonds/Lynnwood Networking group to create/track events and venues North of Seattle.

I attended an event at: Mosaic Coffeehouse 4401 2nd Ave NE Seattle, Washington 98105

It's a community coffee house so I don't think they actually charge for the use, you make a donation instead. It's an interesting venue, but it is not going to win any awards for elegance. It's functional.

There are a lot of Biznik events at the Mosaic. For what it is it is a good deal. However, if you want a really professional setting I would not recommend it.

The folks that run it are a great bunch and it is a community asset. I've done a number of events there. If interested stop in and check it out and see if it fits your needs.

    Hi Joy & all -

You might be interested in a new start up I co-founded and 1-2 weeks away from relaunching at eVenues.com (current prototype). We aim to get all the short-term and affordable venues from around PNW into our system and have them be ready for immediate booking. You can view the space profile, read reviews, and see the actual availability.

However, it's not all that easy because we need to get the venues' availability into the system - like the SABRE airlines system. We have identified a ton of current and new venues (with the help of Dan and folks from Biznik). The ultimate goal is to integrate this directly inside Biznik.

So, feel free to send me any venue thoughts or ideas. Although we are working hard at the moment getting in front of the venues, we hope to get 50 or so in by July 1 so consumers can begin booking.

Thanks and stay tuned for more news.
