Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion What do you cut when everthing is going up on price?

I am wondering what expense you cut or you are about to cut when price of gas, groceries and medical care keep on going up.

If you are self employed, I find there is more impact if you focus on the revenue side.

Do you think gas companies are cutting back? Raise your rates as needed to keep up with expenses!

BTW, gas prices are a great reason to have more phone/webconferences and fewer face to face meetings. It saves money and time!

Focusing on the revenue is a good idea.

I am also examining my spending when I want to keep up with the gas expense and all of the raising price of goods and services.

Planning my trips wisely or meeting on the phone are good options.

I'm looking more seriously at the "holes" where the money leaks. The cellular account and the insurance policies that I've been meaning to review and revise. I know I'm throwing money out the door; if I'd get on it, I could cut the losses rather than cut the expenditures ...

I'd have to say the gas is killing us. Although our main office is in Renton, we live in Pierce County and all the clients for our first business (Cat's Eye Group) are in the Seattle area, as well as most of the biznik networking events we attend for our new biz.

We are getting much better at scheduling multiple client meetings on the same day and are working from the home office a little more.

Leila, Cells and insurance are great places to check. I cut $30/month off my cell bill by switching to Sprint's new unlimited plans.
