Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion What is the one thing you want to accomplish by year end?

We still have three and half months left for 2008. I am curious what's the one thing you want to accomplish by December 31st.

Our words are powerful. By declaring it, you will have a better chance to get it done! Let's hear it!

    Great question, Hsuan-Hua,

We will have at least 60 subscribers to our marketing membership site for solopreneurs.

Who else wants to tell us their goals?

    Cute new pic, Judy.

I will have a lovely subletter to share the enjoyment of my new, twice-as-big, infinitely more sacred and awesome, office space!!!

Oh how I love declaring my goals - Thank you Hsuan.

I'll have to say that my 2 biggies are the business plan for my super-duper-huge side project (which could become bigger than my current business,) and to piggy back on Judy's idea - adding at least 40 businesses to my database which leads to me newsletter.

    Free Pie Anyone?

Ditto that on the photo - Rachel's right, Judy, I love it!

    Year end goals:

    • Be looking for office space to lease in 2009.
    • Get my e-newsletter up and running!
    • Take a vacation.

    Cheers,

    Valerie

Thanks, Rachel and Valerie. Bob took the pic, looking for something different. It's different, all right!

Valerie, yours is so cool. Very friendly, not my typical thought when I think "attorney." That means it works!

Rachel, where are your new digs? That's exciting.

My #1 goal is to emerge from bankruptcy.

2 on my list (which is occuring as I write this) is to have my hospital start paying for school.

3 is related to #1. I want to lease/option a 1/1condo or 2/1 house in a near north part of Seattle.

4 I want to spend at least one hour a week playing with my Olympus DSL.

Still in the same building in Eastlake, just a larger and better office. :) I'll put pics on my site when I am moved in! And maybe I'll have a "check out my new office" party.

    I am checking in.

How are you guys doing with the one thing you want to accomplish by year end?

For my own goal, I started to twitter a little bit. Haven't used it enough.

I just noticed this post. It's great! I actually have a list of things I want to accomplish (not necessarily by the end of the year) that I go over almost every day. It's pretty amazing how the items are coming together! My potentially business-related ones are as follows:

    1. Find a way of helping people that is true to my nature.

    2. Gain the resources I need to pursue only things I'm passionate about.

    3. Figure out why I'm here.

    4. Pay off my credit-card balances.

If you want to get one thing completed, or at least get it started, I encourage you to register for an event I'm hosting on November 19. It's called Get Stuff Done - Accountability Day. Five Biznikers joined me on October 22 for the first Accountability Day, and by 4:00 p.m., everyone had something (or more than one) taken off their To Do list.

Page, imagine having your closet cleaned out before Thanksgiving. Or Jessica, contacting two resources who can help with the pursuit of your passion.

I'd love to have you join us.

Great thought-provoking question, Hsuan-hua. One of my goals is to post more regularly on Biznik.

That is a great posting! Our year end goal is to keep engaged with each of our clients and customers to ensure a smooth holiday season. Add additional tools & resources for parents and teachers. Improve user experience and help promote other local business that we have worked with.

    I appreciate your participation!

We are towards year end. The best way to declare a goal is to make it specific and measuable so we can track it.

In my case, I did some twitter from time to time. I will make sure to do at least one biz related message per week so I learn the benefit of it for my biz.

I have a weekly plan to keep track of my goals. If you don't have a structure to support you, getting into a support group like Patricia's offer is a good move.

Support and structure are the two keys to keep up with your goal! Let's play it forward!

    1) I want to commit to the re-branding of my firm. Been kicking the idea around for a while but nervous. Not sure if I just start a whole new company to deal with the issue and have 2 companies or re-brand current company. Feeling a bit in between at the moment.

    2) Want to solidify some networking relationships that I have started but havent fully developed yet - to build business in 2009 and bring in some new, bigger clients.

    3) Want to spend more time with the fam- it is pretty darn quiet right now but December is scheduled to be pretty darn busy with client events so taking off for a week in Mexico next week to spend quality kiddo time before December comes.

I want to be booked 2 months out in advance for the new year and on-going.

By June, I want the business to be marketing itself.

I want to spiffy up my website so it feels more warm and cozy, like a well-inspired home or office space.

To be 52 pounds healthier! I set a goal and worked up a plan of action I called "The Power of One," in which I would work toward losing one pound a week for all of 2008. I know it's not as fast of a weight loss as some people achieve, but since I've been overweight for way too many years, I knew this was a smart way to have consistent persistence, make smarter choices, work on my portion control and work into an exercise habit. I'm at 51 pounds and counting! I can't believe how much more energy and confidence I now have to put towards my profession and truly enjoying my life. Wish me strength.
