This pretty much sums it up for me.

What's your purpose of being in biznik?
Seeing so much energy over the topic of ranking system, I am wondering what draws you to biznik and what keeps you around? What’s your purpose of being in biznik?

I've been quoted elsewhere as saying Biznik saved the life of my business...but I think the truth is that it GAVE life to my business.
Before I joined, not only had I never had my own business, I had never even worked in the corporate world (always for the government, in admin and teaching jobs). I knew nothing about marketing, networking, any of it!
I've learned all of my business knowledge from this community. I've accumulated most of my support services from Biznikers, and many of my clients, as well.
So the short answer is that I'm a Bizniker so that I can be in business! I sure wouldn't have survived without it.

I joined Biznik last year and sat on the sideline for a while since I was occupied by a training. When I have time for biznik, I enjoy the freedom of making connections, hosting events and being self expressed. Besides, I am a biz coach. This is a quite a biz world to learn everyone's biz. :)

I never joined Biznik to peddle our wares to its members. I also never joined to improve my ranking.
I joined to meet other independants to see how they run their business and cope with day to day issues. I dont care what type of business you have I am fascinated by any small business (how you started, how do you advertise etc.)
I have met some wonderful members in person and have worked with a few of them. I hope to meet more and develop a lasting friendship.
So far Biznik has been the best networking site that I have come across and what makes it even better is that its local vs. just an online venue.

I joined to meet people, expand my level of knowledge, and make myself available to help (for what it's worth).

I joined because I know how important building relationships is to successful networking. I also work alone, so if I can network without leaving my desk - all the better.
I know that, from some hard knocks and education, marketing must be a constant stream - flowing at all times. otherwise your business pipeline will dry up, and you're left with - a major wake-up call.
Biznik is one, just one, of my tools in my marketing plan. If I gain friends and colleagues along the way, even better (which, I have to say is impressively already proving to be true.)

Welcome to Biznik, Carol. Here's a Biznik Event in South King County on 4/30/08 that just got added to the calendar a couple minutes ago:

Another remedy - is to invite other "indie" (independent) business folks you from SoCo to join Biznik too!

Hsuanhua,
Bob and I joined because we want to meet solopreneurs and develop a deep understanding of their marketing challenges. I write monthly on a wide variety if issues affecting the marketing and sales success of solopreneurs and want to know "what keeps them up at night."
I also want to learn from all the great experts here and contribute in some way. Of course, we'll be ecstatic if we also get new subscribers to our e-zine because, after, all, I think we all want to grow our businesses, too.

I joined Biznik for the live and online business networking that it so nicely accommodates. Dan and Lara must be commended everyday for creating such a nice user interface and platform to meet other business owners.
I can honestly say that, as a business connection tool, I've not found a better one. I've been a member for 8 months now and received enough inquires for That Lease Guy that I haven't needed to make a "cold call" since. Biznik really works if you do.
Since joining and meeting so many solopreneurs that could use some sales training, I've decided to add a new service to my business and I hope to continue to meet business owners that can benefit from my new sales training workshops that I am organizing. The content has been inspired by observations and conversations with fellow Bizniks.
So, my new additional purpose in Biznik is to promote my new offering. You can follow the progress of my new endeavor on this new website.

I'm here for the $2 microbrews. Thanks, Dan!
I'm still learning the ropes of business networking and figuring out how I'm most valuable to the people I'm connecting with.
I originally came to biznik because my family had just relocated to PDX and I started my indie venture at the same time. I needed to find people to connect with that shared a passion for doing what they love, even (especially) across different industries.
So far I've gained more in relationships through biznik than I could have imagined.
So my purpose here is to form more of those relationships and keep the fires lit in the existing ones!
If I build my business along the way, well, that's cool, too.

I came to Biznik via another forum (vanetworking.com). It was mentioned there that Biznik was a great online networking community. I needed to learn about networking and still do. I love Biznik and I'm glad to be here. I wish that there were events in my area to attend. I'm hoping that there will be as Biznik grows.

I agree with Rebecca that Biznick is the best networking site I have come across. It is really fun. Whenever I have time, I look forward to scanning members from other cities as well as my own San Diego and I am seeing some cool folks. I also enjoy introducing others by inviting them to join. I hope more San Diego's come on board soon! Then maybe we can get some events going.

I joined because I was invited, but I stayed because of the warm welcomes, the valuable articles, the user-friendliness of the site. Biznik is networking at its best, as opposed to many social networking sites that are about as effective as dropping off your business cards on a table filled with others' business cards.
I hope Biznik catches on in my neck of the Redwoods; the Seattle events sound wonderful.
