Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion Where Do You Have Your Meetings?

Something that came up at one of the events I host is where do you meet your clients and perspective clients. Since many Bizniks have offices in their homes, this seems to be an ongoing issue.

Many of my perspective clients have business locales of their own, so I meet them where they work. If I am meeting with someone without an office of their own, I tend to go to a cafe or restaurant. In that case, I look for a quieter venue that is easy to find.

If the perspective client is someone I have worked with in the past or that I have a higher degree of trust in, I will meet them at my home or theirs.

Truth be told, I have more than one client that I've not met face-to-face because they found me through LinkedIn or Biznik. It's not at all unusual for me to meet with clients strictly on the phone.

Any where that is convenient for my customer. Sometimes that's a coffee shop or their business. Office building lobbies are good and the Columbia Tower if my customer is down town. Art T.

Most of the consultations, sessions and meetings we have with our clients take place in their home or place of business. Occassionally we meet in a coffee shop, though only for a consultation, not for a hands-on organizing project or group training session. In my opinion, the more I am out of my office, the better for my business!

I agree with you Debbie. Someone once told me that the office is "a tomb, not a womb". A place that is really good is the Embassy Suites. There is one in Bellevue, Lynnwood and Southcenter. Their atrium makes a great place for meeting clients.

What a great suggestion, Richard. The Southcenter Embassy Suites is close to our office and I had never thought of the Atrium as a place to meet clients and colleagues.

I have a small office in Phinney Ridge but I think in the last 2 + years only 1 client has ever come here- I meet all of my clients at their offices or at the Columbia Club if we are downtown. But 99% of the time it is at their offices. That way they dont waste time driving around town and I control the promptness of the meeting start time.

Also if I have a meeting downtown (I shudder when I think of going downtown) I meet at the Edgewater. Street parking is usually pretty easy and they have a great seating area in the lobby.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
