Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion Windows Mail, Outlook and Windows Mobile

I recently got a VISTA laptop. Windows Mobile works with it.

1) I am trying to get all of my emails, contacts and calendar from Outlook to Windows Mail. Any ideas?

2) I need to sync my Windows Mobile 6.0 to Windows Mail, so all of the data is kept in sync.

I would appreciate the assistance.

Thank you

I'm assuming you're using POP3 email, right? Well, you're going to have to "jump through hoops" to export your Outlook mail and then import it to Windows Mail. That's one of the reasons that POP3 is not so good for business email. If your email provider gave you IMAP mail, all of these kind of issues disappear. IMAP mail remains on the server, so that whatever device you use or whatever location you login from, your email, contacts, folders all remain the same, no matter what. Ask your host to convert your email to IMAP. If they won't do it, then find another host.

IMAP is great! The only annoyance that I've ran into with IMAP and Outlook is when I delete an email it only crosses it out but it still remains on the server [This has saved my life before!]. You have to "double delete" it to have it actually be removed from the server.

I can us IMAP on my laptop with Outlook or when I'm not on my computer I can use any browser, go to my webmail URL, and access my email there.

Good luck with Windows Mail, I've only found out about it yesterday [thanks Wiki]. I'm sticking with Outlook for my Vista.
