Subscribe to Community-wide general discussion Your Secret Talent?

Come on people, fess up! What's your secret talent/skill that your friends and family know you by?

You know how to do that one thing well and you can teach it to us.

I started a group called Teach Your Talent (TYT) to create the platform for non-business related events/workshops to have a place to live.

I am looking for fun and serious skills/talents. Tarot reading, tips on how to host a great dinner party, dog training tricks, affordable scrapbooking, cooking healthy, how to make simple low-calorie desserts etc...

Check out out Teach Your Talent group page to see existing events.

A few prospective classes coming up are:

How to write an engaging profile by Suzanne Griscom

Getting the most out of your digital cameras by Ken Lapp

A few art classes by Nancy Hanauer

Sound interesting?

Come join us and teach your talent!

My secret talent is that I have smart body parts. People often say I am a smart ###.

Other secret skills are swordsmithing, firebreathing, singing, and being an award winning marksman who writes poetry.

Of those skills: I have taught several people to be a smart ### (stand-up comedy), taught a few people firebreathing, and was a firing range instructor for a bit.

    :)) smart body parts? hmmm....

    You're one interesting cookie, aren't you? :)

Well, being a smart ### is not a bad thing. If you can teach us that, more power to you! :)

Stand up comedy would be great! Would you really do it?

75 numbers, 5 letters, patterns, money, and a whole lot of fun. Some people are natural players and I am a caller. It could be classified as a talent but like learning ten key it can be learned and it can be taught. For those who don't know it will be fun to see your guesses. For those who do I hope you don't get that silly song stuck in your head.

    I'm a Professional Pyrotechnician.

Fireworks are how my parents met.

Fireworks are how they met their best friends.

My sister and I have worked on professional fireworks shows since we were infants.

I have been a licensed pyrotechnician in two states, and have shot fireworks in three countries.

And you can see me and my family ply our trade every 4th of July in Blaine, WA (up at the Canadian border).

I can also play bass guitar, make lovely women's dresses, play second row or right wing on a rugby team, speak Hungarian fluently, be your tour guide in the Balkans, and go camping on a motorcycle for weeks at a time.

    Will that do? :-)

I love your "Teach Your Talent" idea! Looks like it's just in Seattle for now, but I will respond from Portland anyway, partly because Christian mentioned being a tour guide in the Balkans.

I am a Balkan dancer and singer. I run a Balkan dance group on Friday evenings, and a Balkan singing group on Sunday afternoons. Both are named Zabava ("fun"), and having fun is my primary goal for everyone in running both groups. http://www.BalkanDancing.com Feel free to drop by if you're in Portland!

I'm a catalyst and I help people make things happen!!

I'm energetic and determined and if I don't have the right connection I'll help you find it.

You guys can start a Teach Your Talent group in your own home town if you like.

I don't expect Sonia to fly to Seattle to teach Balkan dancing or Richard to teach drums. Some talents are for others to enjoy I guess but some talents/skills are very teachable.

Christian, you are full of surprises. :)

I can talk to large or small groups about sex and never blush! I am comfortable talking about all things related to sex, sexuality, sexual healther, better sex, sex toys and how to improve your sex life! Not sure how I got it, but I do. I now even talk about sex on my radio show.

What a fabulous concept. I will check out the group for sure! Blissfully, Chrystal

Chrystal, if you feel like visiting Seattle and hosting an event around sex I'd be happy to offer you bed+breakfast. :)

You know what they say, "People are more comfortable talking about their sex life than they are about their money". :)

Brenda, you sound like me. I hope we can meet in person.

I teach hand made organic soap making and anti-aging cosmetics. Soap class is the easiest...you have to be a science geek to get excited about skin care....

I actually do read tarot cards, but another one of my talents is being able to dress comfortably for success.

Hans is a green thumb; I am actually rather talented at killing plants! (Not intentionally...)

I am a songwriter; and I'll be launching a "song circle" very soon for Bizniks who would like to share their songs. (Some of my music is at www.myspace.com/katephillipsmusic.) I've never taught it formally but probably could; I've "studied" w/ a few songwriting coaches.

People tell me I'm a great "connector," too... (aka I know a lot of people); also a public speaker.

I am serendipitous...I have an uncanny ability to help others find what they need. I listen to what they are looking for and it manages to cross my path. I can call it serendipity because 'I' per se, am not looking for it - they are. Not guaranteed, but it happens so often it has to be a gift!
