Subscribe to Introduce your bad indie self Finding the best value for routine health care services

I just learned about biznik on NPR this morning. What a great find!

I am co-founder of a health care portal that enables consumers to look up prices and comparsion shop for routine health care services (MRIs, mammograms, x-rays, office visits, dental, vision, vaccinations). The site relies on user-generated content and encourages consumers to post/share prices they paid for actual health care services to share with other consumers.

In an effort to reduce health care cost, many consumers are adopting consumer-driven health plans. These plans are great at driving down costs, but in order for CDHPs to be effective consumers need access to meaningful tools to help them "find the best value". As a consumer advocate I decided to do something to make a difference by launching a search portal to help consumers look-up prices.

I'd appreciate if you would check out www.outofpocket.com and tell your friends. This website is a public service and everyone is invited to participate.

My passion is to help reform our nation's health care system by encouraging health competition in the industry.

I look forward to hearing from you.
