Subscribe to Introduce your bad indie self Hi From Pacifica, CA (2 cities south of San Francisco on Coast) ... Virtual Tour Provider

Hi there,

My name is Eli Poblitz and I live in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. My actual home is in Pacifica, which is just two cities south of SF on the coast. I noticed on some of the other introductions that people heard of this site from NPR last week - I'm one more!

I own Bay Area Virtual Realty (www.bayareavr.com) and I'm doing what I can do grow the business. I offer very high resolution full screen virtual tours that are an asset to any property trying to attract customers or sales.

I love my business, because once my client's get their product, there's always a smile on their face ... and it puts me in a direct line of communication with business owners and entrepreneurs.

I look forward to meeting people through this site. Take care,

Eli Poblitz 650.303.8344

Hi there - thanks so much for the compliment! I put a lot of work into my tours, so thanks :)

I'm still in a portfolio building stage - but things are moving. It's at a good pace, since I also have my regular job as a counselor/educator.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'll have to see more about your profile now ;)

    Take care,

    Eli

Eli, I made the transition from education (teacher, and later principal) to solopreneurship, so I understand where you're at right now. Maybe when summer comes you'll have a little more time?

Hi Judy - yeah I'm really hoping that all of the seeds I'm planting right now will take over this summer so I can see how viable my business is.

So when you made the transition from Education to solopreneurship - how long did it take from you first thoughts of getting out of the Education field, to the time that you actually made the leap? I'm really hoping that I can make the leap in a year to being 100% self-employed.

Thanks again for your compliments on my tours :)

    Hi Eli,

My path to owning my own business was not a straight one. I went from education to a one-year position managing a writing department for an international relief and development nonprofit. Then I became a freelance grantwriting consultant, which was a transition time, not working for someone else, but not really having a full-blown business of my own.

When I morphed again, I opened a graphic design and copywriting firm (which we still have), and now, our second business, marketingyoursmallbiz.com. But once I left teaching, I never went back. Except, it came in handy a couple of times because no matter where you live, school districts are always in desperate need for substitute teachers. Not the best gig in the world, but it helps to pay the bills!

Hope your business takes off this summer!

Welcome to Biznik Eli! WOW... Great tours!

How long does it take to shoot one 360 degree location?

    Hi Andrey,

Gosh ... after many hours of research, and practice ... it takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to almost 2 hours for the shoot side. The real time cruncher is coming back home and stitching the images together through 4 different software programs ...

So an average 4 shot tour would take me about 2.5 hours (with local travel time included) and to process those tours takes me about ... 3 hours. It's quite a bit of work, but I'm working on streamlining techniques ... Can't rush a good thing though :)

Thanks for the "WOW" - it's really exciting to hear!

Absolutely stunning! I can only imagine all of the effort that goes into making them so perfect. From one artist to another, you are very skilled! =)

    Once again - thanks :)

My poor wife lives with me buried in message boards and forums so I can stay on top of the Virtual Tour world - and that combined with my regular teaching job has been a challenge ... so it's SO nice to hear all of you be so kind with your comments - it helps me to reassure that I'm doing all of this for something.

I'll have to see what you do now Brandi :) Peace.

Welcome to Biznik and I'll second Andrey's WOW!

You might want to check with the state and local defense and trial lawyers groups and the private investigators. Your service might be of interest to the legal professions in supporting litigation. High grade graphics are being used more and more in the legal business.

    All the best to you.

    Hi John,

You know - I've thought about that before (I like where you going with that idea). I'm still getting my "feet wet" and coming out of my "beta" launch ... but I really like that idea for the future. Question is - would the trial lawyers pay 200--500 for a series of virtual tours?

Thanks so much for the creative idea though. Like I said I thought about that area before, but I have not done any research yet or tried to contact anyone in the field. Your words may get me to investigate that sooner than later though :)

    Take care - and thanks.

With the amount of $$ that is at stake in some trials, $200-$500 might not be seen as such a large amount. I don't know but I think it would be worth some investigation on your part.

Keep in contact; I might be able to help you develop some leads.

Thanks Judy - I just completed an entry on my blog to promote a company I just worked with called ZAP. ZAP stands for zero air pollution, and they are the only electric car manufacture IN the US.

    Here's my blog - www.bayareavr.net
