Subscribe to Introduce your bad indie self How do you get connected with people on Biznik?

How do you get connected with people you don't know on Biznik if it says only invite people you know? I've had my profile on Biznik since December 2008 and have made posts almost daily but haven't met anyone. How are you supposed to use this site to network? HELP!

Ok, that part can be confusing. Invite is only to invite others to join. Here is the way that works for others. Comment on articles, read articles and tell the person you like their article. Join a few groups that interest you and make comments.

You wrote a good article, how about another? That helps you meet people.

Second, I have taken chances on just meeting people with interesting profiles. That has sometimes worked out and other times not. Not is not a problem for me. Sometimes it is just timing.

Meet other organizers in other parts of the country. Maybe you all belong to NAPO or other trade organizations.

I am positive you will meet all kinds of people if you just send them a note. I have many biznik friends that I have never met and while we started slowly on biznik and have transformed our relationships off or on biznik over several months.

    Best, Terra

Terra is right. Where you are there might not be many Biznik events. When I joined in Dec. 2005 there were little to no members in Everett and no events.

I invited everyone that was already in my "network" of referral relationships to join Biznik. Then I started hosting events in Everett. Almost all of my events have been Happy Hours so I could invite non-members. The rest takes care of itself in it's own time.

You should connect up with Lindsay Berger, who is fired up about Biznik in the twin cities area, and just hosted a Biznik event in your area.

Make that personal connection. You both use Biznik, you both see the power of it.

Then, tell every other small businessperson you interact with about Biznik, and why you use it. Don't tell them why THEY should use it, tell them your story. How it makes your life better. They will vibe with that.

Then host an event. Invite all these people you have gotten to join Biznik. Help them spread the word.

In the end, you will have a vibrant community of people who are working together to help each other. We small businesspeople need to stick together and help each other out... we all have the same problems, and we can all learn from each other.

And, if you need any help, let me know! I'm here to assist people like you and Lindsay in cultivating new Biznik communities.

    Hi, Sue --

I checked your profile and, aside from the posts in this thread, I see only two posts and they were made back in December.

Where are you posting daily? I think the answer might help us figure out why people aren't responding.
