One of my clients has a business repairing credit for people. He asked me if I might know of anyone, a student perhaps, who is looking for an easy office job. It is basically filing, about 10-20 hours a week, paying somewhere in the $11-$14/hr range. The hours are flexible. The office is in Pioneer Square. To start as soon as possible...

Contact me if you or someone you know is interested, and I'll pass on his info.

Thanks,

Gwen

You may want to consider contacting the Student affairs office at the UW. I know when I was a student there and was looking for an internship that is where I went. That pay is right on target for an Intern plus the person would get college credit. I think it has to be targeted towards a degree, but schools are usually pretty flexible with this.

There's also a federal-endorced college student program called "Work Study". I haven't done it myself but I have talked to some people who do use it.

If I'm getting it right, basically it's a way for non-American college students studying on a student visa that prohibits employment, to both get a job and learn something while they're working.

From what I understand, the employer needs to apply to the program, but if the employer is able to provide a position that will offer an opportunity to learn something (a very broad requirement that includes learning how a small business is run), then the employer can set the wage and the Work Study program pays 50% of the wages. Basically you can get a college student intern to work in your office at $12/hour but only have to pay them $6.

If you're interested, try doing a Google search for "Work Study".

    clarifiation on workstudy:

work study is for any college student that qualifies. you dont have to be non-american. i have been on work study since this past summer. its a great program! i dont think the qualification parameters are huge either.

thanks for sharing that tidbit lara. and gwen, for posting the job.

    Correction...correction.

My understanding of work study is that it is 50%/50% split, but it is available to any student. I seem to recal that there are constraints on who can hires for work study though. I thought it was only for U related work though.
