i got some ideas..send me a message.
Software developers?
If any software people are looking for a new venture, I'd like to see a new program for Virtual Assistants.
A sort of do-it-all program to help VAs manage daily tasks: track our time, manage email accounts for ourselves and for clients, create separate calendars for each client, create notes and diagrams from research, manage photos, invoice our clients, track expenses, prioritize projects and steps of projects, manage our contacts/databases, maybe even create newsletters.
I know nothing about software, so if all of this is impossible to fit into one program or one web app, forgive me.
Just a thought!!

Sounds like a CMS [Content Management System] Portal. I think with a little bit of TLC Drupal - (http://www.Drupal.org) might be your answer.
Check it out. =]-Andrey

There are a few web based project managers that can do most of those features you mentioned. Personally I use Basecamp & Backpack from (http://37signals.com/)
However there is a lack of a great all in one off-the-shelf solution, especially something geared at the creative industry. Oh, if I only had more time. ;)

What this company needs to do better is integrate all their product offerings together. Good stuff though. Check em out...

If you manage projects with any complexity, you're quickly going to find that Basecamp puts you in a foul mood. Some of the features it lacks that are essential to project management like resource charting & planning are glaringly absent.

So is there something in between Basecamp and Microsoft Project? I also use Basecamp but know that it doesn't work for one of my clients, who really want fuller features - but there must be something else that is web-based?

I use basecamp too although I'm not crazy about it. I have also used activecollab(http://www.activecollab.com) which is an open source app that you can install on your own server which I prefer.

Hey Brianna,
I'm a database developer, and have created a ton of these kinds of things in the past. The only thing I see that's tricky is creating diagrams.
Other than that, it would all be doable. Pretty expensive though -- that's a lot of goodness you want packed in there.

I'm currently working on my 2rd CRM (customer relationship management) develpment project. Both of which are using PHP. The big thing about these type of products are that they all have different requirements. Obviously someone working in health insurance needs different abilities then someone in the car insurance business.
www.sugarcrm.com is where I've found some good ideas on different features. I need to look into activecollab and basecamp.

Hi Brianna;
I run my an online project management and collaboration solution called Joint Contact (www.jointcontact.com) that may of interest to you. We've had a number of people switch to our service that were previous Basecamp subscribers, and it would be great to learn more about your business.
Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or would like additional information.
