I dealt with a similar situation, here on Biznik a couple of years ago. I communicated with that person quiet a bit till it became obvious that it was a SCAM!
As you say Liz, it may not be a scam, but all the signs point to it being one.
To All of my Fellow Biznik Members:
Please beware of a possible scam.
Someone stating: "We are Jakreem Investment Group, your partner in Biznik.com.Our Group invest in fast growing businesses at all stages of their development and across all sectors of business." sent me an email wanting to invest in my company.
I cannot find them or the person sending this: Jubril Abdul-kareem anywhere within the Biznik searches.
I said POSSIBLE scam because just because I can't find these folks in Biznik doesn't mean they're not here. However, the thing that truly has me suspicious - if they are indeed as large an investment firm as stated further in the email - then why aren't they even listed in the internet?

I'm sorry you had a similar situation.
I seriously don't like hearing when anyone goes through this kind of thing. It's costly - a person's time at the very least.
Unfortunately Liz, its just part of life now, specially with online stuff. The old saying buyer be aware now needs to be changed to always be aware.
True enough. (sigh)
This is what I teach my new computer users - adult education classes. If it's too good to be true, chances are it is.
Thanks for your comments Nadir!
Yeah, it is unfortunate this is the way things are.
Personally I ignore any email that comes unsolicited, even if they tie it into a group I belong to. Second, unless I have opted in to get emails from you, and even if I do know you, I will again ignore it and you will have left a bad impression on me : )
Bob, I do have one small piece of advice for you. If you get to a point where you're ignoring more emails than you're reading (especially the ones sent via a format like Constant Contact, AWebber, etc, then go to the end and click the Unsubscribe link. It'll free up your email. ;-)
Yeah, actually, here's the deal. I have been in marketing 20+ years. And when someone adds me to their list without asking me or having me opt in, just because I know them, that is not the way to do it. I shouldn't have to unsubscribe when I was never asked to subscribe in the first place.
I can appreciate that.
Liz I have received many of those emails over the years here. Mostly by the time I open them the person has been kicked off Biznik for spamming. If it seems too good to be true it most likely is. Forward the email to Lara or any Biznik staff member and they will investigate them. If they are a spammer they will be booted quickly. Trust me they will know.
Thanks Arthur
