I don't recommend it (it splits your participation points, it can be confusing to people, etc.) but, you CAN create multiple profiles. If you want to separate out your businesses, that's what you'll have to do, because we have no mechanism for multiple businesses at present. Reason: it's actually incredibly complicated to do that, from the technology and design perspective. And we simply don't have the resources to tackle that problem "the right way" at the moment. It's on our to-do list, but way down near the bottom.

Multiple Profiles for Multiple Businesses?
Hi Dan & Folks, I'm curious what you think about this: I've got two very different kinds of work...one is high touch (breakthrough workshops with people) and one is high tech (social media consulting and development).
Though in my mind they are related (in a similar way as Biznik has a tech side and a people side), I think others could get confused.
Should I create two profiles, or try and talk about both within one?
A little riddle for you...
(I searched "Multiple Profiles" in biztalk and couldn't find a previous post on this, but sorry if it has been covered already).

well i do understand you guys have a lot on your plate..but if Biznik is really about people..if tracked participation to just one log in ID..then it would make sense that you could database that activity and rank all of that person's profiles based on their activity.. when you do get to that point though that feature might be worth a lot more than 25 a month..
but then i see the challenge..how do you sig line the multiple biz urls...or how do you know which profile to display when you post..could get really tough..

Thanks Dan... I've had a good talk with a biznik yesterday and realized that really, for bizniks, I'm probably emphasizing the wrong hat...I think I will change my profile to my more tech side, as they probably matches bizniks need much more so. Of course, I could always have a little blurb and link on their about my other work...

Leif,
As a serial-preneur, I know what you're going through. I tried to post the most about my important and pressing business, and short blurbs about my other one. It seems to work well and it isn't too confusing (I hope!!).

Well, in my case, my "important" biz (where the passion is) is what I've profiled so far...however, I think that I'll 'give that up' in that it doesn't fit the needs of bizniks quite as much....though who knows what the best friggin choice is...(:

Leif, i totally know what you mean. I have been a recruiter for several years and as mentioned am now in real estate. Well they are both extremely customer driven industries however very different in the approach needed to contact and keep clients. Therefore my "profiles" are different .I think the best way to let people know of both businesess is to simply link one up to the other and keep both on a website .On the website perhaps you can create a portal to go from one to the other website ( create two and link) or you can keep both business on the the same website and create seperate pages within. That is what a friend of mine in Boston does-- he is a recruiter by day and a musician at night. Though those 2 are completely different lines of work ,it gives his clients an opportunity to see both sides of him and makes him more "human" as it were,if you know what I mean.Just a thought.
