I would like to review all the website and SEO articles but can't figure out what category they are in. There have been so many great and very helpful articles. Thanks!

Categorization of articles is up to the author of the article. We can't force them to categorize articles in any particular way, so knowing how our Search functions work is probably the best solution to find particular content. (And then using Bookmarks to find that content again in the future.)

    Global Search
The search box in the green Biznik menu at the top of the page will search ALL content on Biznik. If you type "SEO" into there, you will come up with a bunch of articles about the topic.

    Article Sections
When you click the Articles tab and view the Articles section, you are seeing ALL of the articles. Over on the right, click the "Marketing & Sales" section, then search for "SEO". This is where you can find some real gold.

    Sorting Articles
When viewing the Marketing & Sales section, for example, you can change the sort order to "Hottest" to find super active articles, or "By Date" if you know roughly when an article appeared on Biznik.

    Bookmarks
When you read a great article, click the "Bookmark Article" button under the Author's photo. This will save a link to the article in your Biznik Profile. To see all the articles you have bookmarked, go to your Profile page, click the grey Articles tab, and then the link for "Bookmarked Articles".

    I hope this helps!

I have been encountering inconsistent formatting results when using to italicize. Sometimes success, sometimes is included in the post. Firefox 3.0.7 on Mac OS X (10.5.5).

Can you give me a little more on that Leila? Is there a page where you can show me the two appearing differently? Examples?

There are a couple of places where a short version of your profile appears (for example), and we have specifically decided to remove that special formatting because - in the end - it looks better.

I want to make sure you have found a bug and not one of these "features". ;-)

I am frustrated....again. I have a 950 word article to post, and I keep getting the same error message of having over 1500 words. I've tried the following:

cutting and pasting from Word into the Word Box...all I get is a bunch of "code" in the front end, and some of the paragraphs went missing.

So I pasted the article into a draft email in Outlook, and then re-pasted. Same message.

Then I cut it out all together, and pasted it into the article box directly. same error message.

I even started all over again....

I've spent too much time on this...almost more than the original writing of the article. help!

    Thank you!

Gotta love Microsoft Word! Such a wonderful tool for destroying human productivity...

Your second step would have worked if you used Notepad instead of Outlook. Outlook supports all of MS Word's weirdnesses. Notepad doesn't.

So try this: 1. Copy the content of the article from MS Word 2. Open Notepad and paste the content into there 3. Save the document. 4. Copy the content of your document out of Notepad 5. Paste it into Biznik

That should strip all of Word's sneaky invisible data out of the text you are trying to paste.

Let me know if you have any other problems, - Christian

ohmigoodness, Christian. sigh it did not work..I am still getting the error message, and the formatting from notepad was all messed up too.

I think I'll take a walk and try again later? I've now spent three hours trying to publish this.

    anything else I can do?

    Thanks

Send the Word file to me: christian@biznik.com

I want to try and replicate the problem so we can make this smoother in the future.

    Cool?

Two questions, Christian: 1) Volume on the front page video - (yeah, the one I'm on!). I've had several people (hmm, all MAC users btw) tell me it's not loud enough, they can't hear it. Don't know if you can adjust that. (first time anyone ever told me I was too quiet!) 2) Is it possible to do a search of your (my) emails. I had someone tell me "I sent you that in the first Biznik email I ever sent you"... so either I need a way to search my emails for a particular phrase, OR be able to organize my emails by sender. Are either possible? Thanks! Dave Kuhns, writer and web content consultant

Here's another question: I just attended a huge workshop on Referrals. When I look at my profile, there's no way to give a referral at all. Why not? I know it used to be there.
ALSO, looking at my scorecard of referrals, I've used the tool previously to send at least a dozen referrals.. yet only one shows up. Why?

I strongly second the suggestion to search Biznik messages.

And btw, I TOTALLY appreciate how the messages now actually display their text in my email inbox. Thank you so much for adding that feature!

@David - The email thing... tell me about it!! You know how much Biznik email YOU get each day... imagine what it is like for us! That is a big one, and it is on the To Do List.

As far as referrals go, you need to go to someone ELSE's profile. Then click "Give Referral", then select the person to refer them to.

(Oh... and thanks for the note on volume. We'll look in to that...)

@Rachel - Glad to hear it helps!

Under "Who's Viewing Your Profile" today I see:

"No one has viewed your profile in the last week. To attract more attention, complete your profile and participate in the community."

I know people have viewed my profile because I'm getting sign-ups for events. Thanks for your help with this!

    Hey Debbie,
It does seem strange that you wouldn't have any profile views in the last week.

I am looking into the problem, and will get back to you.

    Debbie,

Please take a look at your profile page. I've updated the code just a bit. Three items to note:

    1. We record profile views when the first page of your profile is visited. If members are following links in emails directly to your events to RSVP they would not be recorded as profile views. The profile page is likely the page others will find when using search engines to discover your Biznik profile. Which leads me to point #2.

    2. Most users visiting your profile will likely be people who have yet to join Biznik (or have not logged in). I've added in the records for these 'unidentified visitors' so you can get a sense of how successful the SEO is for your profile.

    3. The profile view information updates daily.

    Hope this helps!

I'm a new member, and I can't seem to upload my profile photo. It just loads and loads ... It's only 92 kb, and I can't find a size limit in the FAQ. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hey all... a persistent bug: every time I try to post a discussion/article response, or even a message, I see that it is being processed, but then I just see the original posting box, with the "send" or "post" buttons and "cancel" or "delete" buttons, etc. It doesn't seem to post. So I have been known to--and I've noticed this with other biznik posters and message senders--press the send or post button again.

What happens is it double posts or sends out two messages.

For now, I am pressing the send button, then waiting a tic, then copying what I sent (just in case it gets lost) , then refreshing the page to see if it is posted, or I am going to my outbox to see if a message was sent

But that seems like a tedious way to see whether I posted or not.

    comprehende'?

I am having issues with my blog showing up on my profile. The first time I did this, everything showed up dandy, title and content. (It happened to be from www.Brooklynartproject.com, one of those templated sites that all look the same, but allow anyone to create an instant community around a topic. It is definitely not biz nik).

My current blog URL is a page within my website, which is a template creation, namely blinkweb.
The blog on my profile appears to hanging there permantantly or not show up at all. Stangely, clicking on the hanging text will take someone to my blog. But the text or titles do not show up on my profile. I have tried both http://www and just www., perhaps I need to list my url differently?

So...I'm trying to upload a 12Kb image to my profile to no avail. It just loads and loads. Source code reveals an error telling the action to abort.

I have several messages from people complaining about not being able to upload profile photos.

I am currently looking into the issue, and will report back here when I have worked out what is wrong.

@Kathleen: Blogs need to support RSS to be viewable on Biznik. RSS is a technology supported by all the major blogging platforms, and it basically allows a site (like Biznik) to get the content of your blog, without all the associated formatting, framing, and other bits.

I'll take a look at your issue specifically, but I wanted to post this response publicly since this is a problem that comes up from time to time.

My profile keeps showing I have an email that I haven't read yet. I have read all of them and the email icon still shows unread mail.
