Subscribe to "Where you at right now?" In Blog land... should I be somewhere else?

Our new website launched a month ago. We then added a blog... so now there is the "is this blogworthy" question going about the office. And do we notify others of our blog or our website or both. I am sure when this wears out it is on to twitter. Can you find our blog?

When I started my blog, I didn't know what to do with it, but then I added my blog to several blog directories, I promote it on Facebook and Twitter.

Several people have discovered my blog in several locations and I'm starting to get regular contributors.

I can find your blog, but I wanted to address your question of what is "blog worthy."

It would seem to me that you'd want to make certain that you have a specific set of reasons for posting any given item to your blog. Such as, does it entertain, inform, enlighten your web site readers? Does it enhance the visitors experience of the web site? Is it interesting and time sensitive, as in does it announce an event or activity that is going to attract readers and their eyeballs to your site? Is the information in the post jargon-free, so as not to bore the reader or waste his or her time? Those are just a few ideas for you to create a litmus test for your blog posts to help make them worthwhile for your web site. I hope that helps, DeAnn Rossetti archer34@aol.com

It's easy to over think the blog thing. A blog can be many things and a thought process about audience and intentions is important, but it ends up taking on a life of its own anyway.

My last blog post was a spur-of-the-moment decision based on the fact that I thought the photos would come out nice... the whole lunch thing just reflects my being too lazy to work up something with more substance. But if you always wait for substance sometimes it's a long time between posts... and that's another issue.

Best to relax, and blog to your niche giving them what they need and want to help them. How you promote your blog is another thought process and will determine whether you have a "following" or not, if that's what you want.

This forum is unmoderated, but please keep discussion courteous and not too far off topic.
