Subscribe to Ask the Health Specialist - Discussion What Modality best compliments your Modality?

I see the future of Health Care becoming more diverse. I have experienced almost every modality out there. Thus far, I am finding that not one person or modality can do it all...but if one tried 2-3 different modalities for every issue perhaps this could transform and bring about the awareness of seeing the whole picture of health.

    Massage & Chiropractic

A very common and popular combination. Chiropractic serves to move bones back into place and massage helps loosen those muscles which pulls on the bones out in the first place. It would be beneficial for Chiropractors to include or highly recommend Massage with their treatments. I was just talking with someone last night about there fear of chiropractors, “Once your in you go forever”. Well if massage was included in that paradigm the “forever” may only be for a few months. If a bodies muscles are tight...they "pop out" very easily, in which one would have to go "forever".

I feel like some sort of movement therapy would be the best compliment to massage. Feldenkrais, Yoga, Thomas Hanna's Somatics. I often have clients that say they are afraid to see chiropractors either because they are afraid the cracking aspect, or know people who have been going for years and don't want to be caught up in that. For these clients I usually recommend something more gentle such as craniosacral therapy.
