Subscribe to Enneagram Lovers and Explorers - Discussion The Defining Moment?

I was just posting in the Enneagram books thread that Lara started, and it got me to wondering...

Many of us probably discovered our type through reading some book or lengthy test. I'm curious if any of you remember the phrase or the words that finally made your type click for you.

I think I found my type through an in-person assessment, and I think the moment when things fell into place was when my assessor said something about my preference for power and control...

I had taken a test and come out equally 2 and 8. I wish I could remember what sold it for her. I'll have to ask and report back on that.

I've seen a fair number of defining moments as I've helped other people figure out their type. I love it...how the forehead relaxes and the eyes clear as people go, "wow, yeah, ok. That sounds like me!"

In reading several types that "might" be me, I read this, about 5s, that made me exhale: "In the Five, we see the genius and the madman, the innovator and intellectual, the mildly eccentric crackpot and the deeply disturbed delusional schizoid." Yes! That's all me!

I hold a strange paradox and yet, for me, it feels completely normal (since it's all I know of myself). At least now I know that there are others!

Awesome, Becca! Thanks for posting that. I get a little chill reading that sentence, even. What book or resource was that from?

So glad you're getting excited by getting to know the type that fits for you. I love that!
