Subscribe to Teach Your Talent (TYT) - Discussion Writing an Engaging Profile

I'd love to give some tips on how to write a profile that is dynamic, eye-catching, and reflects the writer's personality.

Maybe you want to show that you are "creative and quirky," but not "weird or flaky."

Or you're in a traditional, suit and tie industry and want to look professional and current, but not stodgy or "way out there."

It's often hard for people to write about themselves. We love tooting other folks' horns, but tooting our own can be tricky.

Once you get the hang of it, you can apply the same techniques to other writing projects, and have a little more fun along the way.

If enough people are interested (5 or 6 or 12), I'll set up a workshop where we can present what we have, work up ideas to improve it, take time to think and write, and then come back with a new version to discuss.

Anyone interested?

Hi Suzanne, I'm interested. I just became a Biznik member less than a week ago. I'm okay with what I've got up on my page, but I'm not wild about it. So yes, if you hear back from others, I'm definitely up for a working session to share, improve, write, think, revise. Thanks for putting this out there.

That does sound like a great idea! I'm hosting an event that is intended to help people get feedback from peers called What's Your Message? but I would love a workshop that gave specific tips.

Wow, what a great response! Okay, I'll make it happen.

My first choice will be to make it at Mosaic during the work day. Second choice will be an evening event. What are your thoughts on scheduling this?

I'd like to be counted in as well.

Hi Suzanne, Since I work full-time in Redmond, an evening event would be easier for me. If the consensus is for a work day, Monday, Thursday, or Friday afternoon would be workable for me. Looking forward to hearing more. Heidi

Whatever time you come up with - I'll try to work with - I usually have some flexibility workwise.

Please let me know if you schedule something--this sounds excellent. My schedule is a little wonky these days with some travel coming up, but I would like to join if I can.

Cool! Evenings are hard for me as that is when I teach, as are Wednesdays. Keeping my fingers crossed I can make it...

I am definitely game, but need a lot of advanced notice no matter what time of day. (single parent) Somehow I don't think the meeting would be as productive with a 3 year old running around.

I could definitely use the help with my profile and I think the tips you're looking to share could be used in other areas with amazing results.

Thanks for putting this together Suzanne!
