Subscribe to The Marketing Crowd - Discussion PODCASTING: Why Do We Do It?

There are lots of people out there marketing themselves through sharing their knowledge in the form of podcasting.

Do you do podcast? Why? Anything you'd like to share with the rest of us that you have experienced whether observing shows or being directly involved in them?

I am part of one called The Brent and Brandi Show. Brent and I talk about everything! Some of the recent topics were Wordpress, SEO and consulting services. We have invited a good deal of Bizniks onto the show and plan to keep this up. We just started this cast a month ago, so our listener numbers aren't up where we want them yet, but the show is really something else -- we both enjoy talking so... haha! It's a lot of work, which makes the whole thing very rewarding when we get to listen to the final product. If you'd like to be on the show, feel free to email us at hello@thebrentandbrandishow.com

Side note: Brent, if you are around this post.. say something. ;)

    Hi Brandi,

I was interviewed on a couple of podcasts on my only subject `How to Live the James Bond Lifestyle'. One was 90 min, the other an hour. Plus did around 50 live radio shows.

You can hear one of my interviews here:

    Hi Brandi,

I was recently interviewed by Rachel Whalley for her radio show. Our topic was centered on having several avenues of business and how to combine them successfully. The show is on my website if you'd like to hear how it went. www.DesignABetterLife.com

I am interested in doing more shows. There are a lot of topics I could focus on. Give me a call if you think I can contribute!

    Brandi,

I have experiences as both a podcaster and an interviewee in many podcasts. One of the elements that makes podcasting unique and different from other marketing channels, is the intimacy you can gain with your audience. There is something very intimate about people hearing your voice vs. reading your words.

In addition, with podcasting, people take you with them since many listen to the episodes in their mp3 players at the gym, in their cars or during walks.

My podcast series is called Xtraordinary Living and I have interviewed over 50 people in the past two years. I've met some fascinating individuals and I've really strengthened my connection with my clients as a result of this.

As an interviewee, it is a great forum to demonstrate my expertise and connect with a new audience.

BTW, I believe that I'm scheduled to be on your show sometime in the near future. I look forward to it.

    Great topic for a discussion.

I love podcasting - especially the one I do every other Friday with Brandi Pierce ;-)

I have a somewhat daily one I also do called my "Drive to Work Podcast", which is basically talking about a topic for about 3 to 5 minutes into my phone on my drive to work. It isn't scripted but the topics are related to my work. I find it is an excellent way to improve presentation skills as it forces me to give a presentation each morning. Now when I get to work, my mind is ready and my voice is warmed up and sometimes a client will ask me about the very thing I podcasted about that morning, so I end up having a nicely rehearsed response.

Rick - I'm sending you an email now as you are our upcoming guest - wow, is it April already!

Well, my podcasts and live show are kinda different. My radio show is called Better Sex Radio and we stream live every Wednesday at 11am.

The podcasts are archived on the site and on iTunes.com for a year after the live show and they are all here:

    www.WSRadio.com/BetterSexRadio

Here in the Bay Area I am known for my talks about S.E.X. and S.E.O. - my two favorite subjects. No SEO podcasts yet, though.

    :)

If you have a product or a service you can some how relate back to sex, dating, intimacy, romance, marriage or relationships please pitch me and we can have you on the show soon!

I have never done a Pod Cast but may be interested. Speaking skills are fairly good as I just completed a year + with Toastmasters and received the CC award and visited a regional contest as backup. I'm up for the challenge & fun.

I don't podcast, per se, but I do a lot of audio interviews for my Marketing Club and I also do teleclasses live which I record and then distribute to those on my email list.

Audio programs are VERY successful in my marketing my services. That is, I usually get a lot of immediate business because it's based on a focused campaign. It takes a fair amount of work to set up the landing pages, autoresponders, etc, but it's worth it.

I have a hard time seeing podcasting and blogging as having a direct impact. For me it seems too random. It's nice to "get your name out there" but unless it's to a pretty targeted audience, it's very hard to measure the result.

Anyone have metrics for podcasting - that is measuring visitors to a web site, new subscribers or even sales?

My most recent teleclass is here: Transforming Your Marketing Mindset

Rick, how do you broadcast your interviews? I'd really like some ideas how to get these out to a broader audience, but I'm not sure I'm ready for a regular podcast, like my weekly eZine.

    Cheers, Robert
