Subscribe to Travel Professionals - Discussion Introduce yourself!

Hi everyone! Thanks for joining Travel Professionals. Please take a moment to introduce yourself and tell us what you do and what you'd like to see from this group. My hope is that this group will become a meeting place and a resource for those of us who work with travel. I encourage members to participate in discussions, host and attend events, and share travel-related information that might be of interest to the group.

Now, here's my introduction...I'm a freelance writer and editor specializing in travel and the environment. I write a travel column for Examiner.com (see my profile for a link and recent posts) and also write about travel for other websites, magazines, and newspapers. In addition, I do business writing and editing and particularly enjoy working with companies and organizations in the travel field.

I'm also a freelance tour manager, leading trips throughout the world. For the past several years I've been working with alumni and museum travel programs (think Smithsonian Journeys, National Geographic Expeditions, Stanford Travel/Study, etc.). In addition to my professional travel, I've backpacked alone through parts of Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and Europe.

I've been amassing a portfolio of travel photography for more than 15 years, and my friends have long been urging me to "do something" with my pictures. I am currently seeking ways to market my travel photography, whether in conjunction with or separate from my writing.

That's me in a nutshell! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi all! I'm an online marketing consultant whose clients include travel agencies and photo tour specialists. I'm also a participant in a local meetup of travel bloggers that meets in West Seattle - some of the members of which spoke at this year's SXSW Interactive festival.

In general, I'm a both a follower and proponent of "conversation marketing" or social media marketing - especially in the sense of building online relationships as opposed to using social media as just one more way to get people's attention so you can sell them something.

I'm encouraging my clients to get involved with communities like Biznik so they can see the difference between the old marketing/PR and the new - and how a website like Biznik's facilitates the latter.

Thanks, Annika, for starting the group! I look forward to participating.

    Hi!

My career path has flowed into scuba.

I teach scuba for a living in the Puget Sound area. For travelers, I can certify students fully in the Sound before their trip, or offer a "Referral Course" where they do class and pool here, then their Open Water dives at their travel destination.

In addition to teaching, I write for an international dive publication, XRay Magazine, in Copenhagen, Denmark. My column, GirlDiver, is going to be focusing on dive travel for girls in 2010.

I'm looking forward to meeting others in the travel world.

    Hello my fellow travel lovers!

I am real glad this group was created so we can engage with each other about our past and future travels. I grew up absolutely loving to travel and have really gotten bit by the travel bug in recent years. Even though all my trips have been domestic, I am extremely eager to explore the world and travel internationally.

Due to this passion of traveling that I have had growing up, I recently decided to start my own travel business! I have officially become the travel club owner of "World Travelers United", which is a travel club that specializes in organizing leisure group travel to the most exotic and beautiful destinations our planet has to offer. People who are like-minded and have similar interests and have always dreamed to travel all across the world, are able to do so in style and for pure fun and pleasure! This business is a dream come true for me.

To get things started, my travel club's inaugural trip is going to be this coming October of 2009 to Greece! And then we are going to Hawaii in November and off to an Eastern Caribbean cruise in December!

I have learned so much in the past 4 months from my mentors who have been in the travel industry for well over 30 years and I have taken that knowledge to create something truly special.

I look forward to working with you guys and getting to know more about where you hope to travel in the future and how I can help with anything. And who knows, I just might see you on one of our future travel club trips!

I look forward to keeping in touch.

    All the best,

    John Trivedi

    Hello

I launched my company, Uniquely New Zealand Travel this January and am slowly getting my head around Social Networking and Social Media Marketing. There is certainly a lot to get ones head around!!

As my business name suggests I sell travel to New Zealand (and Australia!) and work with Travel Agents and special interest groups. I'd love to get involved with a network of people who can share ideas and, maybe, even work together on a campaign.

My background is marketing, and I've spent many years helping Travel Agents promote themselves to existing and potential clients through traditional marketing methods.

I look forward to being involved.

Hi,I'm Marina De Martino from Naples-Italy and I'm a tourist guide. I work for a company that provides tourist services in Naples : loadgins , bed and breakfast, residence, guest house, cultural itineraries, personal shopper services , boat services, the web site is www.webconciergenapoli.com My personal website is www.napolinostressitinerari.com My first aim is to guarantee relax and nostress stay, even bacause the mass-media only take note when something bad has happened in my city, without considering how rich and interesting is the cultural background of Naples. Besides we have to consider that even the Gulf of Naples with its coast ,so monumental with its natural beauties (Capri, Ischia, Sorrento, Amalfi) remains impressed in the memories of the people who visit it. So welcome in Naples_Italy Best Marina de Martino
