Digging Your Blog, and Other Blog Resources

Business blogging is all the rage now, but what if you're behind the technology curve in getting started? Here are some resources that make blogging easier, as well as some that help explain what you need to know to get your blog more exposure.

Ever wonder get confused by the whole RSS feed thing? Yeah, so does your blog audience! The good news is that you can get your blog posts to your audience in a much less "techie" way by using a service called Feedblitz. (Another good one is Feedburner.)

Using this free service allows people to just enter their email addresses in a field on your website and then get your blog posts delivered to their email inboxes.  You can also use it to subscribe to your favorite blogs.

You can use Digg and/or Technorati if your aim is to get national exposure for your blog. But what ARE Digg and Technorati, and how in the world do you do that?

Check out this user-friendlier explanation of how to use Digg. And here's a user-friendly podcast about Technorati.

Another helpful blogging resource is Google Alerts, which you can use to see who is writing about topics you like to blog about, and even who is writing about you!  This one is fairly eary to figure out from the source. Just go to www.google.com/alerts.

Great information for someone just starting out blogging. I recently posted a blog that was similar to this one. If anyone wants to check it out, it's located at http://cmjoffice.com/blog. I did not include feeds in my blog. Wish I had.

Thanks for the comment, Colleen. As for having feeds in your blog, I don't see why you can't add them now. Have you talked to your web designer about that?

Great tips! Thanks for the info. Can you recommend anyone who tutors people in how to do blogs? Thx, L

Heh. I used to do exactly that. I haven't yet MET anyone who is a blog coach besides me, but I see that there is a gal on Biznik with that title: Ariel Meadow-Stallings.

I will shoot you an intro. :)

If that isn't a good match, feel free to email me. I do, on occassion, still do some blog coaching on the side.
