I take all of my life experiences and combine those into the work I do. My greatest source of skill comes from my time in the hospitality industry, however more so, my innate desire to serve.

My passion is customer service - it is what I choose to do, what feeds my soul and encourages me to soar to greater heights.
Over the past year I have worked extensively with a business coach - it's been on a daily basis - spending time developing all facets of my professional and personal life. The skills learned have translated into all areas of the work I do - working directly with clients, time management, negotiation and communication and so on.
You can often find me with a personal development book in my hand, or listening to one on my Iphone.
Some of my favorites:
Dale Carnegie - How To Win Friends and Influence People
Marcus Buckingham - Now... Discover your strengths
Steven Covey - The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Chip Conley - Peak - How Companies Get Their Mojo from Maslow
Sue Knight - NLP At Work
Harvey Mackay - Swim With The Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive
Napoleon Hill - Think and Grow Rich
Jim Collins - Good To Great
Malcolm Gladwell - "The Tipping Point" and "Blink"
Daniel Goleman - Social Intelligence
And many many more...
I have also spent every day of the last four years, with a great teacher - my wife Yoko.
Yoko is from Japan. She is a first generation immigrant and we met in college while we were both studying Hospitality Management. The Japanese culture is quite different than ours - actually I would say they are just about opposite in many ways.
Communication: Direct vs. Indirect.
Focus: Individual vs. Group.
Denial of Blame vs. Blaming one's self as a default
My time with my wife has made me a better person. It has taught me to truly slow down and think before I speak - to think of the ramifications of the words I utter, and how they will affect those around me. It has also taught me greater negotiation skills, to truly think from the other persons point of view , and to craft my actions in anticipation of their reaction. This training has been difficult and painful at times however it has made me far greater than I was before it. I am truly gracious to my wife for believing in me, and pushing me beyond what I thought was the best I could be.
My goals are to eventually open an entire Hospitality brand including restaurants, hotels, bed & breakfasts, concierge service and even catering. My end all goal for this vision is to grow my company to the point where I have an entire board of directors taking care of all the day to day dealings of my corporation. At that point, I want to build a restaurant in my home town which will be the ideal place for a relaxing meal with the family.
Once established, it will be my extended home, where I can invite colleagues, family and friends to come and enjoy a meal together. And of course, at any time, I'll be able to pick up a note pad and wait tables - just because I love doing it.
Follow your passion and your bliss.
