What Alana does best
Take care of people. My goal is that everyone that comes in contact with my company leaves the interaction feeling as if they've been well cared for. We are not sales people, we are customer service people; this is an important distinction for me.
Communicate. My customers say that one of the things that makes us stand out from the crowd is that we keep them informed of the status of whatever it is we are doing for them.
Find creative, personalized solutions. We provide our customers with the best possible solution for their application, even if it means we have to refer them to a competitor, or suggest that investing in a renewable energy system is not the best use of the money they have to spend to reduce their dependence on utility power.
Build relationships. I love being able to say that many customers end up being friends. There is nothing more satisfying for me than to have a client so pleased with their interaction with my company that they stay in touch long after the sale is done.
Experience
I've been living off-the-grid since 1996, which inspired me (and my husband Tim) to start Fire Mountain Solar after Tim managed the Washington office of a New Mexico-based renewable energy retailer for a few years. We operate our business off-grid using solar and wind power.
We have designed and provided technical expertise to over a thousand customers nationwide.
We do installations within Washington State. We have done dozens of off-grid and grid tie installations, including:
CF Fresh, Sedro-Woolley, WA
The Au Sable Institute for Environmental Studies on Whidbey Island (in conjunction with the University of Washington and the National Park Service)
We also teach classes regularly in conjunction with the Washington State University NW Research and Extension Center, and Skagit Valley College. We have also taught at local public schools and other colleges and universities, including Central Washington University and Seattle Central Community College.
