The ideal space is sound isolated enough that I don't bother other people if I decide to play with a drummer, and I don't get bothered by any loud neighbors (other musicians, traffic, etc) if I'm in a writing mood. Does such a place exist? I'm open to moving, if there's house for rent (with a basement?) that is within my budget ($1,000 - $1,500)... or a practice room to rent ($0 to $400)... perhaps an office space that isn't being utilized after hours?
