In trying to find ways to deal with the exponential changes occurring I have seen peoples stress levels sky rocket and their creativity plummet. To help stimulate creativity it is critical to reduce stress and increase our moments of relaxation. To do this easily and quickly, try some basic reflexology techniques.

Reflexology is an amazing modality. No other form of bodywork has quite the same ability to achieve balance in the body. The best thing about reflexology is you can easily do it on yourself.

Try the following reflexology tips to Inspire Creativity and De-stress your day:

Inspired Breath: This is a technique that encourages breath. It also opens lungs, neck and shoulders and encourages you to kick off those cumbersome shoes.

Spread your toes.

Simple.  This allows for inspiration on both the physical and metaphysical levels.  A little bit of deep belly breathing, while spreading your toes, can only help stress settle and creativity ignite. Fingers mirror toes, so when shoes cannot be kicked off spread your fingers and breathe.

Balance Adrenals: Calm you adrenals in stressful situations by gently pinching and rolling the webbing between your thumb and pointer finger.

This area also contains reflex points to relax the back. Due to our modern lives, this webbing is overworked by texting and typing. Give it a break and reset your stress level in the process.

Clear Brain Fog: Release congestion and mental fatigue by gently rolling the flat part of your knuckle on the tip of each finger and/or toe.

This is an amazing tool to use when trying to remember facts and figures. For best recollection of information roll tips of finger while learning and again before, and during demonstration/presentation of information.

This technique also increases mental clarity and helps you stay awake and assimilate information in events or meetings. Whenever you feel “full” or mentally overwhelmed take a breath and roll the “brains” at the tip of each finger.

Decrease Tension: Neck, shoulders and head tension are key areas that need to be decompressed. If things are tense and not flowing in this area of your body, it is harder for your brain to get the vital nutrients and oxygen it needs to function.

Here are three ways to open the head, neck and shoulders using reflexology:

  1. Pull your earlobes. The fleshy part of the earlobe (where traditional piercing is) represents the head and neck reflexes. Gently squeeze, pull, and roll each earlobe between two fingers.
  2. Interlace your fingers and push the webbing between towards each other. This helps decrease shoulder tension.
  3. Squeeze each finger from base to tip, on both sides and front/back to help relieve head and neck tension.

Nervous System Reboot: The last technique to increase creativity and decrease stress is to roll a golf ball or other bumpy ball between your palms.

This helps stimulate all nerve endings, restoring communication to the brain and soothing the whole body. You can also put the ball on the ground and stimulate your feet while checking email or having a phone conversation.

Reflexology is an awesome tool you can take with you anywhere. Most of these techniques can be done while riding the bus, standing in line, sitting in a meeting, or waiting at a traffic light. The ease and simplicity in which you can start reducing your stress and accessing your creativity is at the tip of your fingers.
