What Amy does
Are you a parent? Do you want be a better parent? Dumb question, I know, but what parent doesn't want to do better?
I help parents figure out how to deal with the tough parts of parenting, like talking to kids about sexuality, love and relationships.
While I might not be able to guarantee your 15 year old won't get pregnant, I can guarantee you will become a better parent, if you give what I recommend a try.
After all, who doesn't want to be a better parent?
What Amy does best
Motivate. Educate. Calm. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Eat. Cook. Watch movies.
What does Amy need?
I need a small, cute, but not sporty purse that I can sling over my shoulder like a messenger bag.
Education
I have a MA in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institue of Seattle, a college of Bastyr University. My focus was in adult education, training and personal coaching. I also have a BA in Women Studies from the UW.
Experience
Starting in college, I volunteered for a variety of organizations as a sexual health educator. I eventually worked for Planned Parenthood and while I was there I had the brilliant idea to help parents learn how to talk to their kids about sex (since they clearly weren't doing it!).
One of the other reasons I decided to start Birds + Bees + Kids was because I discovered that I was a bit uncomfortable talking to my own kid. I figured that if I was uncomfortable (and I can talk about pretty much any aspect of sex and sexuality with ease) other folks must be really struggling.
