Develop and program non-credit business classes for the Community Education department at Whatcom Community College. Also working to expand and develop courses for a new program, Encore!, designed for the baby-boomer generation as they redefine the meaning of retirement.

I'm looking for new class/workshop ideas geared toward business owners and managers, sustainable business practices, and managing a business in a difficult economy, and am looking right now for instructors to teach workshops this summer at WCC.

• Coordinated tour program to raise awareness of Portland State University among business and community leaders. Planned and developed tour agendas; met with and interviewed faculty; researched and compiled invitation lists; wrote biographies for participating faculty members; arranged presentation rooms, equipment needs and catering; led tours. Results: From spring term 2001 to fall 2005, the research of 138 faculty members was highlighted to over 445 guests over the course of 47 tours.

• Led creation of and managed Welcome Week, a program to assist students at Portland State University during the first week of fall term. Prepared budget and working timeline, developed and maintained marketing materials and website, coordinated volunteers, recorded statistics for program documentation. Results: In the first five years of the program, over 16,000 students were assisted by 560 faculty and staff volunteers.

• Managed and oversaw participation in 16 domestic and international tradeshows annually for a Whatcom County manufacturing firm: researched potential tradeshows, booked space and arranged payment; ordered furnishings and all services; worked with asset management firm to arrange shipments to and from shows, including international shipments; managed tradeshow inventory; attended shows as necessary to oversee set-up, dismantle and outbound shipping.
